I will never go back to Riveria Jewelers. WE had a piece customed designed ther and when paying such a large amount of money the designer (Jan) should design what the customer asks for not what she feels looks good. They changed the piece after we approved the wax and then said they thought it looked nice. They were wrong. As the customer I feel they have no "artisit license" when using my money. They are very rude. If you want something done right do not go there. If you want attitude and to be way overcharged this is your place.

Hit that nail on the head.

I've never had a bad experience there. Jan has designed many pieces of jewelry for every member of my family. Everything was designed as agreed, she was kind enough to make helpful suggestions (i.e. The way the stone was held in to prevent it from coming loose) but never "forced" the suggestion upon me.

Her pricing has always been very competitive and I've always found her to be courteous and professional.

I have a funny feeling bejeweled, that you just might be her competitor and are using this board to besmirch her.

Too Bad.

I'm not a competitor, but I can tell you there I won't shop there because of her attitude towards this community and her neighbors.

You mean the customers from Tap House who smoke under her awning.

That's silly to think she has the right to tell them not to loiter in front of her doorway. Roll Eyes

Nope, that's not it.

And I won't disclose where my dislike stems from. Not spending a dime there is enough.

I'll just say that when you operate a business, you should know that your words and actions have impact on potential customers-even after hours.

Is this something that happened as Santa Fe? or a Village Meeting?

You, GEM, have never answered the question of whether or not you like owning property and doing business here in Glen Ellyn. Do you? Or not?

I will hang up and wait for the response. Thanks!

Have you not read any of my posts? The answer should be very obvious.

Yes, I have read your posts and no, the answer is not obvious. Do you like owning property and doing business in Glen Ellyn? Yes or no or refuse to answer. No problem if it is the latter...just tell us.

Thanks.

I have always had a good experience with Jan. Maybe it stems from "Jim sent me..." Smile

It's not a yes/no question. Its kinda like marriage. There are some aspects you really enjoy and others you could do without. (You like your in-laws to visit, but you love when they go back home.)

There are some aspects of Glen Ellyn I like better than some other towns/villages and there is also room for a lot of improvement. (see previous 2 years worth of posts)

The best answer I can give you is, I like Glen Ellyn more than I dislike Glen Ellyn. Should it continue to improve, I and others will stay and conduct business, should it head down the shitter, be assured you will see a few more 4-Sale signs.

Never had a problem. I agree that she is a passionate woman...but I have no problem with that. But those opinions and beliefs, when spoken, can either help or hurt business.

I admit that only had Parker's ring repaired there...and some watch batteries replaced. But...it is not the kind of place I would go for custom work. That stuff should be done in the city direct with the dude doing it. Jewelry middlemen...usually a bad idea.
