Noticed the other day while sitting at the light that the free standing jewelry story (its name escapes me) at the corner of Park and Roosevelt is closed. I've always wondered about that place, as there NEVER seemed to be more than 1 car in its lot at any given time.

Been in there several times. They were previously located in the building south of the GE Animal Clinic. Not crazy about their prices.

I buy all my jewelry at AAA Jewelry & Diamond Exchange on Saratoga & Ogden in Downers Grove. Their prices are exceptional and they don't sell the mall jewelry store stuff you see coming and going. They deal in quality stuff. Ask for Mike. Smile

Academic now I guess, but we did stop in at the closed place while ring shopping many many years ago. Thought the selection was OK, but just didn't have the "buy now" flag go up. Ended up purchasing from a jeweler in Joliet that had a 2nd location along 59 in the So. Naperville/Plainfield area (Newstar Jewelers I believe???).

I was very familiar with the Odgen/Saratoga jeweler building (looked there too for the ring). The other side was (is?) Welsh Engineering. Worked there when the entire building was a bicycle store back in the 70's. I wonder if the world's slowest freight elevator is still working? Basement always leaked when it rained.

It was AJ Diamond Mart. Did they move, close or go out of business? Is it indeed finally closed? I saw the signs for weeks when I went through that intersection. I'm very, very happy with Larc on Main. Great people there. Nice stuff! Some stuff hand done by them, very pretty! Just like jewelry you would see at a fine arts festival or fair!

How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl, Year after year,
Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.
