Hello everyone!
I grew up in GE and my family is still there, but now I live in Racine, WI. I'm trying to plan a short notice baby shower for my sister in the GE area on November 16 between 2 and 5 (Hours are flexable) and I have checked these places so far:
GE Village Hall
GE Historical Society
GE Chamber of Commerce
GE Library
GE Park District
Village Links
Holes and Knolls Mini Golf Clubhouse
Arrowhead
Morton Arboretum
Oak Meadows in Addison
and I have left a message at COD in the Event Services dept.

I'm looking for a place that will hold about 50 people that will let me bring in my own food and that is open on a Sunday.
I'd consider a church meeting room, a VFW hall or anything in between as long as I don't have to be a member and it is pretty inexpensive (under $200).
I heard that there is a clubhouse available at Raintree Court, but I can't find a phone number anywhere to try to contact them for more information.
Can anybody help with Raintree or any other location?

I would look into the boat house on Lake Ellyn, it's run by the Park DistrictBoat House rental

I had my wedding there and my sister weent to too many school functions there and has refused to have the baby shower there That was my first choice - but thanks for the suggestion.

I have been to a few super-exclusive functions at the boathouse in the past, and I can assure you that it is a lot pricier than Ms. Banana's budget. FWIW, until the PD stops building **** that people don't want and renovate that building...it isn't worth it. Dark, dank, smelly...it's sole attraction is the ability to drink liquor on the deck. With the weather getting cold...and the function being a baby shower...I'd say the boathouse is out of contention.

Raintree Condo Association makes you get an insurance policy for the time you are going to be using the facility. I think that alone makes it cost prohibitive.

The Rodeway Inn on Roosevelt Road is always having parties in their little party room. If you don't mind the average wisconsin guy beating up his girlfriend/fiance/wife in the hallway, I bet you can get that for pretty cheap.

Yeah, iamgine what they could do with the boathouse if they applied the money their using for the Ackerman Rec center.

Healthtrack has a conference room or two that may be available. First Pres, First Congregational, Faith Lutheran Church and St. Mark's churches have appropriate spaces iirc. I am not sure Santa Fee would let you into the basement rooms without ordering food, but if nothing else is going on and you agree to buy a beverage or two, maybe...

Those are some great suggestions - any chance you have numbers or addresses so I can look them up on the net easier?

I had my daughter's HS graduation lunch at Barone's and several "big" bithday parties.
They are very helpful, and I think their food is great.

I would like to thank you all for all the help you have offered me! After making about 50 calls yesterday, I was able to secure the Fellowship Hall at St. John's Lutheran church in Lombard where I went to grade school! We will be catering in from Brown's Chicken and it should be a wonderful day! I really appreciate everything!
