Yes, a long time ago at their old location. It's a fun atmosphere. Food is better than average. For a party or fun family outing, it's nice.

Fan, the IMJ's were regulars when we were residents of Lombard. The food is good, the service is crappy........great place to pick up and dine at home....

What is the inside like? Is tikitabulous? Is it like this place...where you need a limo to drive you home from?
It was when we went. Maybe not QUITE at over the top Tiki...but close.

Just yesterday I was telling a gent that sits behind me in the office that Tong's was one of my Dad's favorites. He would always want me to go with him. Hands down the most awful dining experience you will have. Was never sure why he liked it so much . . . but I can assure you that he did. Must have reminded him of his time in the South Pacific. Other than his dining choices, he had impeccable taste.
IIRC, Channel 2 did a story about them when they were doing pieces about Chicago-area kitchens. Not a good one, if you know what I mean.
The original owners lived in my neighborhood when I was growing up. They were very nice people. All I can say is my friends and I swore we would never eat there after they gave us donuts they had cooked in the same oil as their fish diner. There is something downright unappealing about “bass donuts”
If we're talking about that place in the corner of a large L-shaped white painted shopping center on the north side of Roosevelt in Lombard, then yes, we went there to use up a coupon several years ago. Worst service we ever had at a Chinese restaurant, and about the third worst service ever at any restaurant. Food was just barely OK.
Best Chinese place for eat-in we have been at this decade is in downtown Hinsdale. Name is Jade Dragon. Very inexpensive, owner seems to know most partons by name so repeat business must be incredible. It's a bit of a drive but thoroughly worth the trip. It isn't very fancy, and Friday nights the teenage crowd is there in force, but it sure beats the local fare. Get the "full dinner" on the left side of the menu, which shouldn't be more than $11.95 and includes rangoons, egg rolls, choice of soup, the entre, and almond and fortune cookies to finish it up.
