Where can a gentleman shop for a moderately priced navy blue sports coat these days? I would like the Brooks Brothers look without the Brooks Brothers price. Has anyone tried Manny's or Cosmos on North Ave?

Try the Brooks Brothers outlet store in the Aurora outlet mall.

You should head to the Premium Outlet mall on Farnsworth - there is a Ralph Lauren and Brooks Bros. (very good) store. Another great option is Von Maur. I think their alterations are free as well. Carson's men's departments are pretty good - plus if you bring in some used clothing for Goodwill in the next week, you'll get coupons off for, I think, 15%. That navy blazer is a wardrobe staple that you could wear for years. Don't go too "moderate" or it will show.

Take 88 west to Farnsworth and get off on the northbound ramp. The outlet mall is on the right, you should see it, no problem. Check out the Sony outlet while your there, sometimes there's some really good deals on TV's

Actually, Penney's is pretty good. Manny's carries Sansabelt and other brands. Good for tall people.

Sansabelt? Really? If they carry Members Only, too...I am so there. I'll jump in the Trans Am and zoom right over there. Big Grin

Yes, I was stunned Eek that that brand was still around and they had a lot of it! My husband is tall, so that's why I wandered in there. But the styles were up to date. (Now if they were Haggar (sp) or Angel Flight...well then we'd need the GranPrix.)

Gaedes is also worth a try. I would however suggest that instead of navy, go with black. Black is the new navy wardrobe staple.

I am fairly certain that given a cape and a nice tiara, I could save the world.

Gaedes has great clothes, but I would hardly consider them moderately priced.

Ok, here's the report....

Went to the Outlet Mall this afternoon and within 5 minutes grabbed a Ralph Lauren, navy sports coat for $175.00. Never been to that Mall before, it was very nice. Thanks GEmom and Yoss!

When we first moved here, Olson's (I think was the name) carried some nice products for gentlemen. It's a shame it's gone. Went to Giesche's today too. I cannot believe for the life of me that they do not carry men's belts. I bought 2 pair of Rockports and wanted a new belt to match each of the shoes. Salesman told me that they were getting some within a week, but he never offered to take my phone number and call me, he never suggested any add on sales like polish or socks either. Blows my mind. Also, I couldn't help but think that since Olson's is gone, why are they not carrying a few other types of products for gentlemen. They should test the market. Seems like they have a ton of space. Why not add a small selection of cologne and maybe a few wallets? I don't get it. They have tons of purses.

No new T.V yet.
