Hi, Has anyone tried the new sushi place in downtown Wheaton yet? We ate there last night. Nice atmosphere, and we liked the food a lot. They have a few chef's special platters that are a good deal, and a nice selection of special maki rolls. Wish the place opened in downtown G.E. but at least it's close enough to order take-out.
Hi J.R.B, We tried the chefs special I mentioned. It included 9 pieces of sushi plus a rainbow roll. I think the price was $25. It came with a couple of peices of salmon, tuna, yellowtail, with sweet shrimp, unagi, and red snapper. All were fresh and yummy. We didn't try the Uni yet. If the uni is good, I could see us becoming regular customers. They also had some very creative rolls.
The best sushi place we've found (particularly because of price but the sushi is good!) is Sakura in Naperville. Not a bad drive and $19.95 all you can eat is a great deal!

Ditto Amy...went there again this past Saturday. Happened to get there right before 4:30 and saved an additional 20%. Definitely ate more than $16 worth of sushi-all good quality. Some fun rolls too.
Hi, Amy that is a DEAL! I checked them out online and there are some good reviews. A few complaints as well, but I guess you can't please everyone. At $20, it's definitely worth a try. Have to say, I am encouraged that we now have not only the place you mentioned, but the new place in Wheaton for nights when I just want to pick up something on the way home from work. One of the things I missed the most about life in downtown Chicago was the sushi. Sorry, but the "Sushi House" just doesn't cut it for me. Pricey, and IMO not worth it.
If you are looking for a good deal, I like Kona grill across from Yorktown. They have a happy hour every day from 3-7 with $3 sushi, etc. Also have a nice place to sit outside.
If you are going out with a large crowd, we like Kiku's in Naperville. Your tab can be big, but its tasty.
