The old Charlie's Ale House building (on Butterfield next to Cozymel's in our favorite neighbor Wheaton) has been razed. Not sure what if anything is going in. The "for lease" sign is still up, but I can't imagine they'd tear it down without something new on the drawing board.

Guess I should have done some research before posting. Looks like this will be the new Chick-fil-A site.

Amazes me that a fairly new building (Charlie's) can be wasted for the sake of building another new corporate dive.
Wow. Says something about the bucks floating around in the good old USA- Just don't mention healthcare for their employees Roll Eyes

Just wondering - from what I've read about Chick-fil-A, that's supposed to be quite a traffic-driver. Do you think they had to tear down the old building to enhance traffic flow? There always seems to be traffic heading to Whole Foods, et al, at that light.

I think we've reached the end of the road with the "chicken sandwich genre" now that KFC has the chicken in a chicken slab sandwich.

I'm not sure what else can be done. And why? How can you top an absolutely delicious sandwich that's a heart-attack in a bag? You get all your daily caloric intake in a single sandwich, not to mention two days worth of saturated fats and salt.

Cripes. What more can you ask for? A filet on a bun? That's a big step backward, if you ask me.

1976 called and they want their menu back.

I've got a friend in Atlanta who absolutely loves this chain and was sad Chicago didn't have one.

Got to admit, I just looked at their on line menu and will probably be dropping in there when I go over to Petsmart - there are times you really need someplace quick, and now that Subway seems to be having salmonella issues. I do like the way they lay out the nutrition info on the site. Looks way better than KFC for sure. Pity it's not open on Sundays, but that's what they want.

My 14 year old can't wait for this place to open. Anytime we are south, it's a requirement for lunch. A little too much family values Bible thumping for me. Can't wait to see the traffic jams there.

I can't wait to see if we get this spectacle (per Wikipedia)

quote:
Chick-fil-A achieved quite a bit of notability in October 2003, when it was publicly announced in a major ad campaign that a new store, opening in Goodyear, Arizona, on October 16, 2003, would offer, to the first 100 to enter its doors, coupons for a free combo meal every week for a year. Along with this promotion (which was widely featured on the Internet), the company threw a huge opening day carnival, complete with karaoke, free ice cream, klieg lights, and prize raffles. The "First 100" promotion is now held at the opening of every new Chick-fil-A restaurant, with people camping out for up to several days before the opening to guarantee their place in line.
