I will from this point call this the 'Fish Taco Theorem.'

The Fish Taco Theorem (TFTT) goes something like this:

1.0 A good fish taco is a good fish taco.

1.1 The typical misreading of cultural trends by conservatives has nothing to do with good tasting food.
1.11 The typical reading of cultural trends by conservatives has everything to do with bad tasting food.

1.2 A perception exists in untrendy locales that good tasting food is trendy.

Comments?

I shall cogitate on this for the rest of the week and report back with periodic updates.

Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.

Perplexed - we need to start rolling on our idea. This board is a perfect indication that there is a pent up demand.

Mardie - most, if not all, will agree that Chix and Salsa has a decent fish taco....and NOBODY will or can argue that it is trendy.

I had no idea that Chix N’ Salsa had great fish tacos; I thought they were a chicken place. Little Perplexed and I will be there Saturday for lunch. I have always gone to Baja Fresh when I need a fix (reasonably good).

Fan,

I’m sure if we add a bank to our fish taco stand, the Village Board would approve it in a flash.

I had always gone to Baja Fresh as well. Not as good as some of the great fish tacos in CA, but was pretty good for a chain. I'll have to give Chix N' Salsa a try.

I'd back a fish taco stand. Beats hotdogs.

All this fish taco talk.

I know, you will be shocked, SHOCKED I SAY, but Houlihans has damn fine fish tacos. I kid you not.

Tap House Grill has good one's as well.

But the best, I MEAN THE BEST on the planet is right here:

http://www.hawaii-search.com/Maui/Restaurants-and-Bars/Maui-Fish-Taco-Stand/

Located on the southern most part of southwestern Maui, this place is makes the best fish tacos I have ever had, period. Mrs. BlueEchoes and I walked by it like 10 times and finally said on the second to last day of our trip "what the hell, lets try them" and I have been craving them ever since. Why they are so good: they taste fantastic, all the right ingredients, perfectly made and all that, but the final kicker is, they are about a 3 minute walk from the ocean on a quiet beach where you can eat tasty food and watch the sun go down all the while hearing the ocean meet land. There is nothing better than that sound.

damn, I need to go back.

Sidebar downtown on LaSalle has some pretty good fish taco's too. They're not Wahoo/San Diego good, but they are Illinois passable.

I agree Houlihans does have a great fish taco. Had them at the Pittsburgh Houlihans. My French Canadian friend who joined me for lunch is now hooked. He said they have never heard of fish tacos in Montreal.

This just in http://www.qsrmagazine.com/articles/exclusives/1007/baja-1.phtml

Rubio's Mexican Grill is the original Baja style fish taco. Maybe he would consider Glen Ellyn!

This may be blasphemy but I don't really like Rubio's. I am very partial to Wahoo's. And, I hate to be a Glen Ellyn scrooge, but if I were to fund a modern, volume driven restaurant (like Potbelly's, Wahoo's, etc.), I wouldn't be opening it in Glen Ellyn. Maybe I'm risk adverse, but I haven't seen enough from this Village to persuade me to invest my money in it - yet. Sorry, but it's true.

Agreed... Except the part about not liking Rubio's.

farber55 Do you read what you right or are you makeing funny outlines. Why this turned into some crappy conversation about a taco is beyond me.

This thread has turned into a example of why nobody will ever be able to lead downtown into a coherant bright future. Its like hearding rabbits. Unless there is wolf forcing them to go in one direction everyone will do ther own thing. Good or bad downtown will wonder along and find ther future.

Please, tell me more about how a thread on a stupid village message board is a reliable predictor of future Village planning successes. I'm enthralled.

And at the risk of sounding flippant and directive, I think some on here may be taking this board and their perceived roles on this message board a little too seriously. Let's be honest, if this board didn't have the give-and-take, the quasi-inappropriate posts, the levity and the outrage, nobody would read it, nobody would participate in it and it would have no effect. Take the good with the bad and enjoy it for what it is.

I like the fish taco tangent!

So if we were in Glen Ellen, CA would someone get upset if we went on a hot dog tangent?

I wonder what Glen Ellen’s downtown is like? Bet you can get a hot dog and a fish taco.

Fan, why do you need a soapbox? Are you vertically challenged?

Don't know about Glen Ellen, CA., I've never been there. But in Glen Ullin, North Dakota I can tell you that they have no viable restaurants whatsoever and would welcome both good fish tacos and/or hot dogs.

"stupid village message board"

I guess you are what you write. In the end your wasting your time if you dont think like minded people can try to help downtown. Why not find a blog with similar goals to your own.

Firemouth,

I think you need to go stick your head in some snow. Quit being a jerk and respect your elders. Fan has 4,428 posts on this site to your 9 and has been registered for almost 4 years. If I went back and looked at your 9 posts they are probably almost all negative. Fan is right about the site of course, it is just a BB. If you haven't noticed the board does have alot of influence and ton's of people are viewing it as guests. So it does accomplish something for the good of the Village, in that opinions, good or bad are heard. However, if we can't poke fun at each other, get a little crazy sometimes, and voice our opinions, there would be no board.
