C'mon, Ring...even you have to find it super sad that in order to strap your LGBT feedbag on you have to make your way to Aurora, IL. As a proud, card carrying member of Glen Ellyn's straight community, I must say that downtown Aurora is...at best...a little dicey on the absolute most wonderful of days. I mean really, are rents in Hinsdale that high?
If you are ever that bored that you feel the need to pass by 76 bad Italian restaurants to get to what is more than likely yet another one (there has to be a reason why there are so many Italian restaurants in this world...my guess is that it is the ease of making the stuff)...stop by my place and I will mix up your favorite cocktail and dust off my New Order and Pet Shop Boys collection for your pleasure.

Clam, merely trying to help out some friends of ours that have invested in this project, so I figured with the amount of 'hits' on this site (go Ted!) that there have to be some fellow 'mo's that might be interested in trying it out and lending their support for this venture.
We went on Saturday to lend our support, more than anything. Food was actually pretty good and there was a pretty good-sized crowd at 8pm. It's less than a block away from the casino, so the area it is in is fine, by Aurora standards. The Irish restaurant across the street from this one was JAMMED full and it is a huge restaurant.
We have actually had two instances in Glen Ellyn restaurants where my partner and I were told off, once by a fellow diner that was leaving and once by an owner. So yes, sometimes it is just nice to have a place to go every so often where you don't have to worry about such things like that happening.
Homophobia is a real condition and until you have people who really hate you for who you are and discriminate based on that, it is impossible to know how it feels.
Oh, and please dust off your Yaz and Depeche Mode CD's Mr. Those were more my cup-of-tea back in the day.

Say the **** what???? You should have called me. I'd have kicked the crap out of them for you. I am good that way. Champion of the common man and all.
If it isn't too personal...what were the circumstances behind these attacks? Also, I was just tugging your chain. I think you know I am a very tolerant individual. I think. Or, perhaps since I claim to be...maybe I am not.

Don't worry, with my workout routine that I've been doing for the past several weeks at HealthTrack, I can kick some a** if need be. But thanks for the offer!
No, it's not too personal. It wasn't like we were making-out or even holding hands to garner such treatment. In both instances, the individuals had eavesdropped on our conversation we were having at dinner where we were talking about stuff just like any couple does...vacations, house projects, etc... so they knew we lived together and were more than just roommates.
Which ever (or is it "whichever" in this case....GEMom2...what say you?) is more "I have more gay friends and acquaintances than the average straight man".

1. GE Ring...EEKS. I cannot imagine that happening. Did you have a clever reply?
2. I'm just thankful ro get the Is Figo closed thread off the front page. Each time I read it I think of Chevy Chase saying "Francisco Franco is still dead" YEs Figo is still closed!
Buggy...Yeah, I came up with plenty of clever replies to both instances about an hour after they happened!
Was kind of too shell-shocked to reply cleverly. It was a creepy feeling to know that someone has so intently listened to our entire conversation, in both instances.
Is the owner who did this to you and your partner still the owner? I certainly do not want to support his/her business...how can you let us know what restaurant to avoid?

I agree! I do not wish to support a business who has this attitude. GER, I am saddened and shocked that you were treated in the manner!
I started reading this and thought that Clam & GER would end up in a big fight. I love you both (in a hetero man hug sort of way)and didn't want to take sides.
FYI - I would of chosen GER because he has offered to feed me when the family goes away this summer. Clam... Nothing!

Thank goodness! I, too, cannot support a business that would have those sort of views.
I cannot beleive that this actually happened in recent times. People, it's not 1950 anymore. And as if we don't have bigger issues to worry about, besides who is sleeping with whom... Who cares??
WoW!?!?!?! This message board has really come a long way from some of the things stated about our African-American neighbors as recently as last year's Taste of Glen Ellyn.
Clam, while your on the subject of local restraunts, I have a serious complaint about one that has been around since 1972.
The new owner lady was having a very bad day and snapped the check money out of my hand while mumbling something nasty about one of her partners.
Then just over the weekend, said restraunt was kind enough to serve me spoiled meat. I ate the majority of it as I have spring allergies and couldn't pick up on the unusual smell, thinking it was the onions in the hash-browns next to the meat (as I always ask for fruit not hash-browns)
Truly, if a cook can't tell that something is an odd color, odd smell or texture or think they can char-broil it back to health. . .then they have no business working in the kitchen and only shows the contempt they feel for the people patronizing their establishment.
