So I had a little bit of extra cash this week (thanks to some overtime at work) and took my oldest daughter to walk around
downtown. Naturally, she wanted to hit the used book store over on Crescent "Bundles of Books".
I cannot say often enough how much I love this store. Fantastic books, great prices, AND eco-friendly! Not to mention the items created by local artists they sell. This place is amazing. Does anyone else have any experience with this store? Should I give up, or should I just keep chasing pavements....even if it leads nowhere - Adele |

I love "The Bookstore" too much to go into "Bundles of Books". When they opened I know a lot of people were left scratching
their heads as to why they chose a location so close to a very well established and loved business. (Doesn't this seem to
be a common thread in Glen Ellyn?) I understand that "Bundles" also sells used books but if you want to go that route the
Library has frequent used book sales and the AAUW sale each May is another option.
Actually I rarely buy new books anymore...with the amount I read using the library is the only way to go. You know after the latest library discussion I decided to look up how much a portion of our last real estate tax bill went to the library...I was astonished to see that it was well over $500!!! For that amount, I will continue to attempt to get my money's worth and only buy when the book can't be found anywhere else (or if my kids inform me that they need a certain book for school TOMORROW)! |

Lol at the kids thing....I think most of us have been down that road a few times.
The Bookstore is good, I've been in there as well. Bundles has a larger selection, though. Plus, being only used books they're half the price as the new ones. I just bought my daughter a practically new set of horse books (5 in the series) for less than $10. AND they gave her a free book because her birthday is this month. I understand what you're saying about getting your money's worth out of the library, too. Given my last thread about it, I haven't been there in a while. One advantage of the used book store over the library is that you can "sell" them your used books for store credit. So, in a way, it's very much like the library because you can purchase books by returning your old ones. Should I give up, or should I just keep chasing pavements....even if it leads nowhere - Adele |

Hi,
You're right Agnes. I came to the same conclusion after seeing how much of our tax revenue goes to the library. Plus, the library will order books for you from other local branches if they don't have what you are looking for. I was surprised how quickly they were able to get us a couple of newer releases. |

Bundles of Books doesn't have that homeless shelter vibe going like the Library.

Hi,
Well RMK you just might be right about that. But I think the used book store IS in downtown GE, no? And near the train station, no? Now get back to work. Or I will tell the stunning blonde that you are online. LOL. |
