A new restaurant has signed a lease for the former US Bank space at 466 Main next to MandEm’s. Chinese, Japanese including sushi, and other Asian cuisine will be offered. The family operates a number of other restaurants including the Oriental Buffet & Grill at 366 W Army Trail Rd in Bloomingdale.
The prominent property at 480A-486 Main has also sold to a new property owner. Current storefront tenants include CAMP Cosmetics, Pink Hippo and Paul’s Shoe Repair.
True dat, fan. Wonder if the new owner will be putting any dough into it? I doubt it.
That bank space is easily the single most interesting space that I could ever imagine for a restaurant. Needs to be completely built out from top to bottom, and there are zero windows.

I've searched my memory and I believe the guy goes by the name of Tony Zeng (spelling) He is Oriental but always used the name "Tony"
He has been trying to get into GE for quite some time. He had responded to my ads back in 2004 and 2007. Unfortunately the spaces I had available were too small (only about 1200sq/ft) as they required three or four bathrooms in the build out and they had to be handicapped accessible.
He is a very nice guy I wish him well. Glad to see he found a space to suit his needs.
Now lets see how good he is at jumping hoops and cutting tape!

On the brighter side it is only a one story structure, so installing a hood, vent, and return air will be a bit more manageable.
Doubt the building has the required utility service so I'm sure someone will be dropping in new a new water main, grease trap and possibly a new sewer line.
This is gonna cost some money! Hope he knows about the grant programs!!!!
I certainly do not wish anyone bad luck, Gem. Just wondering how that could have been the place. Isn't Curly's on the market? Yes it is. Not certain that area is quite that sleek though.

Although location is important, it may not be as important if there is high demand for the product. That location isn't ideal, but they may have a really sweet deal that makes it attractive. (I still believe it's going to be a pretty pricey conversion. Hope the Village officials are cooperate better than they have in the past!)
Naperville has two Sushi places that are located in the middle of the block with limited window frontage. Both seem to be doing well. The one by Jilly's draws the older crowd, while the one to the south has a younger following.
I imagine a few skylights could really brighten the place up, and a new front facade could add a few more windows.
Either way, this is a big plus for the CBD. One less empty place and something to increase foot traffic in the middle of the block. Just hope they don't get half way done and the whole thing goes belly up like the old antique place on Penn. (What has it been 3 years like that?!)
