Some neighbors new to GE were inquiring about going to Curly's this Friday. Mrs. Yoss and I have not been there for years, for various reasons, but would be willing to give them a second chance. Am I kidding myself that things have gotten better there or should we visit an alternative establishment. THG is out for now, we have had succesive bad experiences there recently.

Here's the good news about Curly's: no more smoking.

We went for lunch today because we wanted to eat outside. So, we sat in the outdoor area in the way back. Their salads are underwhelming but the French Onion soup was good. My husband enjoyed his Ruben (without thousand island dressing) but ask what kind of fries they have if you are thinking about having fries. We always liked the non-seasoned/non-battered curly fries but apparently they are "experimenting" with different styles of curly fries until they find one that customers like. We HATE seasoned and battered fries! So, they brought my husband some cole slaw instead - which was good. Their burgers are good as well as a number of other sandwiches. So, if you want a laid back and now smoke-free environment with decent bar-type food, give it a go.

Sorry to hear you've had some bad experiences at THG. We've not been there as much since the holidays.

Amy, I love fries, but like you don't care for the battered, seasoned fries. The smoke in that place was one of the reasons we stopped going there, I also remember the servers being pretty bad. I'm thinking we may take a pass, since there seems to be no compelling reason for going back.

Yoss,

Curly's is just ok. Don't forget that they have live music on the weekend, so depending what day you go, it may be very loud. Although, the bands are usually pretty good.

I like Curly's for what it is - very casual bar food, nothing fancy or special, and pretty reasonable. We haven't had any bad experiences there and the weekend music is nice, when you're in the mood.

Now, about Tap House Grill - I've had the same reaction the last few times I've gone there and I don't know if it's just me or not. You guys all seem to love it. But I find it to be a very damp place. Very humid, and - well, I think it smells. Kind of a sour, musty odor.

While the food's OK, the dampness and the smell have really put me off the place. We've been going to Shannon's instead.

Has anyone else noticed this? It might just be because it's such a dark, old space and there's nothing they can do about that. I think I've had the same reaction, no matter what establishment has occupied that space.
