Well, we have dragged our feet long enough - little nugget is 6 months old, and we figure she should probably be baptized at this point! We're going to schedule our own ceremony at St. Pet's with a deacon family friend, so the ceremony will be after 2pm on a Sunday. I had thought that a post-baby-dunking brunch would be a good idea, but 2:30 or 3 is late for brunch, too early for dinner, so I'm thinking hors d'oeuvres and desserts. Can anyone recommend someplace not too far from St. Pets that would do a small reception like that? Probably no more than 15 people.
Thanks, glellyn. I thought about those; I think we're in the market for something a little more elegant since there won't be that many of us, and maybe a private room...
I was at a really nice art reception at Bells and Whistles in that room to the north. It may not completely meet your privacy requirements, but it was a casually elegant affair in there, I thought. I think they would work really hard to meet your needs and expectations.
I did a post-baptism at Barone's. They actually opened up early for us on Sunday. We had a lot of kids at the party and it worked out great - they got to build their own pizza in the kitchen which they loved. And of course there was the play room which parents loved. I'm not sure everyone would call Barone's "elegant". But I'd put it higher on that list than the Tap and it's certainly adequate for the likes of me.
As you might guess, however, we had more than 15 people. And 15 won't fill either "room" at Barone's.

Those are all great ideas - thanks! That's really neat that Barone's let the kids build their own pizza in the kitchen. I'll have to remember that for future events that will definitely involve kids.
Just wanted to post an update - we had our little one's baptism this past weekend, and ended up having the post-dunking-shindig at Honey. I have to say I was SO PLEASED with the way everything worked out. Even though the baptism ended around 2 and Honey technically closes at 3, they stayed open for us until a little after 4. The food, as always, was wonderful, the service was perfect, and the cupcakes for dessert were a hit. The kids loved it, and it was the perfect casual family atmosphere for us. I don't know if they make it a practice to accommodate big groups like mine past their regular hours, but we really appreciated the consideration they showed us. Yay for Honey! Now I need a first birthday party venue...
