Anyone know what's the story with HONEY's? Isn't there supposed to be another casual eating spot opening in the GEBD?

I heard a sandwich shop in that old drugstore on south Main. I also heard a deli type place (the one that was rumored to have pulled out due to Honey)somewhere else, but I assume it was going to be part of the Whole Foods-lite store that was supposed to open on Pennsylvania.
Don't know when Honey will open. Glad to hear there is an affiliation with Orange in the city. Loved to go there when I live downtown. |

There's the answer to the old drugstore:
Bells & Whistles Snackery 401-405 Main Street Type of Business: Historic-themed snack shop |

Snackery?
Historic-themed snackery? As in eating at a table with a picture of Mercy Dodge Churchill hovering above? |

Maybe add a few countertop jukeboxes and a soda jerk, complete with bowtie and all. Could be that something that we need to attract people. On second thought, Lombard already has an Ed Debevic's. Love the idea, but not sure if it will make it long term.

And if it can be said that the owner's attitude directly corrleates to the success of a restaurant, then it will certainly make it. Last week, my wife was walking my kids through downtown and the owner walked out of the store and introduced herself to my wife and kids. She explained to my wife what she was doing and brought my kids some paint so that they could paint on the windows. She was a total hit. My family will be doing everything it can to make the launch of that business a success. |

The Snackery babe...or the Honey honey?
BTW, I have read most of your 140 only posts and I have never seen you so passionate about assuring the success of anything. |

Elizabeth of Honey is truly a great person. She is the person who originally owned Good Works. I expect that Honey will be an awesome addition to GE.
I am fairly certain that given a cape and a nice tiara, I could save the world. |

As much as I love JRP...you just can't imagine how funny that last post was, Fish.

Two weeks and going strong...you fat *******. I called Dr. Lee and we had a great laugh about your overall level of conditioning. When he started talking about you and your private, confidential state of health, I said, "What about HIPPA." He responded, "more like Hippo!" Boy did we laugh. He's one funny SOB. |

Right now....I am laughing on the outside...yet crying on the inside. The curse of the overweight clown.
This is me...last Halloween. |

Clam...the people from Glendale Heights are nicer to you than your "friends".

Metromix has posting which says Honey Cafe has announced it grand opening:
Honey, a "modern comfort food cafe" has announced its grand opening Nov. 9 at Main and Pennsylvania in downtown Glen Ellyn. The concept is approachable gourmet, with sit-down breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus a deli counter filled with house-made cupcakes and take-home eats such as free-range meatloaf and truffled mac and cheese. With Alex Gomez (Orange, Darwin's) manning the kitchen, expect a rockin' weekend brunch menu featuring dishes such as filet mignon benedict, Hawaiian French toast kabobs and whole-wheat pancakes with caramelized bananas and rompope, a rum-spiked Mexican eggnog. The menu's a smart mix of healthy and decadent, carnivore and vegetarian, and centers on fresh, often organic, ingredients. The decor is modern-casual; owner Elizabeth Janus is keeping the former space's original wood floors and tin ceiling and adding contemporary furniture and a sweet aqua and amber color scheme. The vibe is family-friendly--though we think even grown-ups will like fun desserts like the "science fare sundae," ice cream served with test tubes of toppings. How very fitting for a family-focused yet increasingly tony downtown that launched a marketing campaign with the motto "Glen Ellyn Style" several years ago. See |
