It appears to me that there are a couple of junction boxes (if that's what they are called) on the facade of Honey. Anyone know if they are planning to put signs up there?

Had time to kill today, so I went to Honey for a late breakfast.
Interesting and creative menu choices. Three menus being handed to you might be a little much. Great coffee at $2.45/cup. Had the Caprese Benedict. Great sauce, served on great tomato bread. Great idea. Poached eggs were cooked too hard. Sauce was cold. Delivery slow (20 minutes). Very friendly server (Tiffany). Room is cold. Not the decor, which is nice, but the draft from the front door comes right in to the front dining room, keeping it cold in there. Perhaps with a full room, that would be diminished. My feeling is that this place has so many good ideas with the menu, that it is going to take a chef with an iron hand to run that kitchen. Don't be in a hurry to open for dinner until you get that kitchen and delivery time squared away. Might be a little pricey for your little honeys. Ronald M. Kas |

Went there for lunch today.
Place was jumpin, we had a 20 minute wait for a table. Wife was cold, I was comfy. It was 28 out and the front door was open often, so it may have been cold in there, especially up front, but I thought nothing of it because I dress for the weather. The wait staff was very nice. Didn't get her name, but she was very good as well and seemed to enjoy working there. She was excited to try our first dish on lunch. Wife and I shared the grilled Romaine salad. Very good, and large. Tasty dressing and very nice presentation. Very refreshing. Will be a staple in the summer. Wife had the mini hamburgers. She enjoyed them but since the salad was so big, she only ate half of two and didn't touch the third. I tried a bite, the garlic one was excellent. Probably going to make a nice tasty midnight snack. Maybe offering them in full size separately would be cool. Plate they came in was cool. I had the steak sandwich. I can honestly say it was one of the best steak sandwiches I have ever had. I normally ditch the grilled red pepper, and almost ordered without them, but with the tomato and sauce, it was nicely distributed on a great roll. Blue cheese did not overtake the sandwich, it was all perfectly balanced. Thumbs way up. Not a fry guy, but my wife liked them. If I am going to ever have a fry, I need them very crunchy. 2 chocolate cupcakes to go, we ate later, the chocolate frosting on them was KILLER deadly excellent. The cheese sandwich looked awesome. The talapia sandwich looked even better. Portions were very large from what we saw on other tables. Dinner could be huge there. It is set up fairly well for dinner. I think the back room would benifit from a wall covering of sorts on the big windows, may keep the draft my wife felt down to a minimum as well. I think this would be a great place to have special dinners as well. They have nice art on the walls, but this place was set up nice to have a nice art showing/cocktail party type thing. It reminds me a lot of a really great Lunch/wine shop/dinner place in Holland Michigan called Butch's Dry Dock (VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you are ever up there, not saying because the owner looks just like me and I would consider a friend) and Honey is set up the same way. I know a local artist that would really like to have a gallery opening party soon and would seriously think of having it here. Overall, we really like the place. I think it is a perfect fit for downtown. I am really excited about them being here! I cannot wait until they start dinner, their menu now is very very cool, so I can hardly wait to see the dinner menu. Way to go everyone at Honey!!! CHEERS! This message has been edited. Oh yes the grilled cheese is devine!!!! I am fairly certain that given a cape and a nice tiara, I could save the world. |

This place has its work cut out for it. The wife and I had brunch there y'day. We were told a 20-30 min wait when there were 8 open tables. Some groups left after being told of the extended wait. They had plenty of servers to accomodate a full house.
Once we were seated it took almost 40 min for our food. |

We went back a second time and were disappointed.
Coffee was still top-notch, but that was about it. Service was painfully slow. There were many open tables, so there wasn't a crowd at all. Lots of standing around (by around 4 or 5 staff) at the cash register. We were slow to get noticed (five to ten minutes of trying to catch a server's eye), slow to get our drinks (ten minutes with nothing on our table -- not even a glass of water), and then slow to get our main course (another ten to fifteen minutes and without the server giving us an update.) Steak sandwich was overcooked and the bread was toasted so hard it shattered into crumbs when I tried to take a bite. Mixed greens salad was good -- but that's not saying much. I'm revising my rating. This place has a provisional thumbs down now. What pushed me over the top was the slow service and the crowd of servers standing around and gabbing at the front -- but not looking back at the diners. Super annoying -- and a sign (I'm afraid) of management issues. Sunday might be a bad day for this place. Other people around us were complaining that they'd come for breakfast and didn't feel like waiting -- and now they were back for lunch but waiting for food instead of a table. Something is going on with this place. The vibe is off, the menu is oddly minimal, and the service needs serious attention. We're putting this on the do-not-go-back list until (at least) spring. |

It's got a bad buzz going- you know things are scary when your 16-year-old comes home from school and announces he doesn't think the place will stay open much longer. (Gossip, I assume, gleaned from one of his friends who's working as bus boy there.)
But when word in the hall at Glenbard West is bad...man, you've got some bad mojo workin'. |
