I wonder why no one ran over to McChesney's to grab a loaf or two. Are they billing it as a special whole grain or wheat bread that they don't want to substitute?

Went to Honey's today. Our server was a bit slow (seemed a bit off in juggling her tables) but not terribly slow. Lunch was great - food tasty as has been my experience each time. The place was crowded and seemed quite happy. Keep trying people - it really is a nice place.

I agree Amy...keep trying, it IS a nice place. Went for my third visit this past Sunday after a meeting at church. Was about 11:45 or so. Nice crowd, few tables open. Our server was the best we have had by far. Very efficient, nice, good humor. Food came out the fastest in all three visits. Things tried: Meatloaf sandwich, omelet w/ spinach, bacon and swiss, eggs and toast, veggie burger. All was very good. Veggie burger is their own and is a great combination of vegetables on a really great bakery bun. The Caprese Benedict was served to the table next to ours and it looked fantastic. Definitely will be my next choice. The coffee here is great...from a small roaster. Better than that bitter stuff people love to pay dearly for at Starbucks. I will admit that service left a little to be desired on our second visit, but they seem to be getting a better handle on things and I do love the atmosphere. And Clam, booze for breakfast/lunch? I think there is an AA meeting at the Congregational Church you can stumble to sometime. No driving required.

Booze, my dear GER, is all that is keeping her from opening for dinner. Once a beer/wine license is acquired, they will open for dinner. I just know they will!

I understand that they will be open for dinner starting February 1st. Clam, I agree with you about the beer/wine license as wine does tend to go with dinner for us.
I am fairly certain that given a cape and a nice tiara, I could save the world.

I think they were testing the waters with breakfast and lunch before the made the commitment for dinner. Actually not the worst idea to build a customer base first and then excite them with other offerings. Many restaurants have been very successful with this type of plan. If they really had wanted to open for dinner, they could have started out a BYOB place (like Mykha's was for a long, long time). On that note, there is a good energy in this place and I like that there is an alternative like this in GE.

I went again after church this past Sunday (for brunch - 4th visit). I brought two friends from Wheaton that wanted to give the place a try. Again, all three of us couldn't have been happier with the results.
The owner, Elizabeth, came over and chatted with us. I've always respected her ever since she opened Good Works Gallery (with many folks at that time telling her her idea of a contemporary gallery in Glen Ellyn would not work, because Glen Elly n was 'too traditional.'). She is a very warm, personable person who is quite talented. She has put a lot of herself into this place, which really shows.
Place was busy. I had the grilled chicken sandwich on Ciabatta bread w/goat cheese. Fantastic. The hand cut fries were also quite good (first time I had these...other times I was good and ordered the optional mixed greens). The fries had fresh-grated Pecorino cheese on them and were fantastic. The other two items ordered at our table were the breakfast burrito (no meat) and Florentine Eggs Benedict, which was on the specials list. Both were quite good and very fresh.
Since I'm not a coffee drinker, I ordered the plum-honey tea, which again was quite good. For the three of us the bill came to right around $35. Not bad at all and, again, I really am digging the atmosphere here. It is really a welcome change to many of the breakfast places I tended to frequent after church on any given Sunday. It also seems to be attracting a cool mix of people, which again is a welcome change to our downtown.
Go Elizabeth! We are happy you came back to downtown Glen Ellyn!

Our first visit yesterday and definitely cannot find fault! Excellent food, beautifully presented. Pleasant environment with an ambiance that felt at once neighborhood and big city. This is exactly the sort of place Glen Ellyn needs. We'll be back!

Went for my 6th and 7th visits this past Sat. and Sun. Brought friends from Michigan that were in for a visit this weekend. The place was very busy and everyone was very impressed with their food. The service here has definitely gotten much better since opening.
The owner, Elizabeth, noticed me as a somewhat 'frequent' customer and sent over a plate with four different kinds of muffins, on the house. Very classy. One of our friends ended up buying a box of four red velvet cupcakes to take home to Michigan after we tasted how good their baked goods were (first time we tried them).
Sunday, brought two friends from Glen Ellyn who had never been yet. Again, place was jammed. I had the Filet Mignon Benedict and it was really fantastic. Steak was perfectly medium, as I had ordered it. It had a really good lighter hollandaise sauce and then a balsamic reduction artfully drizzled on top and the plate. Their plating has to be some of the most beautiful I have ever seen at a breakfast/lunch place.
This place is definitely a great new addition to downtown and it is making me actually WANT to go downtown.

Wanted to go on Sunday after 7:00 a.m. mass, but they didn't open until 8:00 a.m. Just too hungry to wait (it was 7:45)so we went down the street, where we saw at least three other people from mass. Just a suggestion, open at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday so you can catch the after church crowd.

Mass ends within 45 minutes? I'm not catholic, just wondering, I always thought your services were over an hour, especially if it's a mass.

It varies depending on the sermon. Fathers Dan & Jim give great sermons-succinct and to the point.

Just a note that Honey is going to have its first dinner service tonight. If you have nothing better to do, give it a try and support Elizabeth Janus, someone who is trying to make positive changes in our downtown.
