GE has it's first Payday Loan Store! Yippie! On the NORTH side of Roosevelt next to Arvati's Pizza
I return from vacation to see that the Retirement Sale at AJ Diamond was really a closing for good sale, the post meeting hangout Firkin is closed, the Big Kernel is closed, and the antiquey shop at the corner across from Cold Stone is finally empty. My question is, when store is this town put up signs that say 60-70-80% Off (and there is a big one right now), for us simple-minded residents who don't really have an interest in older ladies clothes, are you going out of business or is this just an annual purge? I don't want to be a doom and gloom person, I want to see downtown, as well as the rest of town thrive, but when we visited the Harry Potter party in downtown with an Elmhurst resident, I had to really try to talk up the town, even with all of these poorly performing venues. "Sorry folks, park's closed. Moose out front shoulda told ya." |

Part of the problem is residents need to make an effort to shop downtown.
I'm always worried the Book Store will be the next to go, I noticed they reduced their stock. Karins Doll Store is gone now too. |
