I see the derelict buildings on Duane, backing up to the Prairie Path between Main and Prospect, are coming down this week. I've not heard what is happening with that property. Does anyone here know?

By a developer who is a total class act.
A tidy worksite and prompt completion are a certainty!

I believe that the developer is up in front of the Plan Commission on Thursday asking for additional variances.

And I'll bet he gets them!

Good for him.

Saw one of his neighborhood beautification projects the other day.
Loved the snow shovel leaning against the porch. I'm sure he's just getting ready for the upcoming winter. Gotta appreciate that kind of promptness and anticipation in a developer.

I think the lawn/weeds at this neverending project have been hacked once this year. I think they can go another foot or so before needing to be whacked again. (Heck, is it appropriate to call it either "neverending" or a "project" if there is no sign that any work has been done for months? Maybe this IS the finished product?!)

Yeah, give this guy whatever he wants. The rest of us will be sure to benefit for years to come.

Drove past the lot on Duane yesterday. Looks awfully small for however many townhomes he is planning to cram in there. Anyone know if they intend to demolish the 2 houses on the west end, or are they going to stay? I noticed a posted plat of survey, but did not get out of the car to look.

You'd think a petitioner would make at least a superficial attempt to clean up his works in progress, at the time he is requesting special concessions from the village. But apparently the state of his many ongoing projects is of no interest to the village.

Oh well. At least the village can't later claim they did not know what to expect...

What is the over/under for completion date of these proposed townhomes? How long is a new construction permit good for - 12 or 18 months? I'll offer 1/1/11 as the over/under.

Clearly I came in LONG past the middle of the movie here. Who is redeveloping the lots?

How about this? Drive around town a bit, look at the residential construction sites that have been in progress for the longest time (well beyond the permitted periods), and that are the most poorly maintained, and see if you can identify the developer you would least entrust with tearing up a highly visible portion of the CBD.

But such things are apparently of no concern to those who make decisions for our fair burg.
