Is there a worse job than selling shoes at Dick's Sporting Goods? Went there today with the Freshman lax queen to buy spikes. OMG. For that mom who was taking her baseball star high school son to buy metal spikes, the sales person is an employee. Not yours or your son's servant. I didn't mention the respective colors of the people in the story. "A great many people think they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices." William James

RMK, all retail employees (frontline, anyway) run into that....but I've noticed it seems quite prominent in the shoe industry. Regardless of whether it's the type of store that keeps stock in the back for the associates to shlep around and help the customer put it on his or her foot (a daunting task, I know)....or one who keeps the sales floor stocked with merch for self-service. There seems to be something about purchasing shoes that gives people a God complex around the employees. Not to say that everyone's like that....the majority aren't. But the few who are completely make up for the ones who aren't. Definitely a job where the employees are underpaid, I can promise you that! Should I give up, or should I just keep chasing pavements....even if it leads nowhere - Adele
