| KK, dont' let Clam intimidate you. His food snobbery is legend. Keep up with the Ki's love. I may have to give it a try some time. |

| And I don't know where you can get a great steak in the immediate area. We've tried all the places nearby - Harry Carey's, Sullivan's, Weber Grill, Timpano (both Sullivan's & Timpano are in Naperville). Not impressed by any of them. I admit we've never gone to Capital Grill; something about the location & vibe just turns me off, for some reason.
I do wish there was a great local - not chain - steak house. Has anyone tried the restaurant that's now in the old Viking steak house on Roosevelt, near Winfield?
As a Hoosier, I have to say nothing beats St. Elmo's Steakhouse. It's the only restaurant in Indiana that's any good (or that doesn't fry everything in sight). We've never found anything to equal it. |

| for those with Morton's love - there is one located on Freedom Dr. in Naperville. Freedom Drive is the new Naperville Road exit off of 88. |

Is there a Pittsburgh method of preparing steak I am unaware of? I am picturing a well done steak with bits of iron ore thrown in for good measure...

| Funny you say well-done. I have a friend...grew up in Sewickley...every time a make her dinner/lunch...that food better be completely dead. Just char the **** out of it...or else. As a cook who thinks he knows how to prepare food...I really find it quite disheartening. |

| My parents are like that. Last time they fixed me dinner at their house, they grilled hamburgers out and they were just hockey pucks. Hard little black disks on a bun. Bleh.
It's not hard to see why my brothers and I grew up to be somewhat snobbish about our food, given our upbringing. Actually, it's a wonder our taste buds weren't killed in the womb. |

Yes, it wasn't what I was looking for in a steak house. Scribbler, bite the bullet and go to Capital Grill. It is really the best! |

| I have a hard time paying those prices to eat in a restaurant in a shopping mall parking lot...that's my biggest beef. (No pun intended.) |

My parents are same way with the grill, Steaks: flipped a minimum of 5 times and well done, Chicken: dry and chewy. They must have gotten sick or something growing up on some under cooked meat. It took me a while to convince my wife that a warm pink center on her steak was not 'raw' meat.

| Clam, I had never heard of Ki's until this thread. You wrote this review, didn't you? --- I think Ki's Steak House would be best appreciated by Grandparents who are used to eating at Senior Buffets. They might like to hear about someone else's kids foibles and be totally cool with overcooked denture friendly carrots. --- Yelp Review of Ki's

| I still stand by my "Al's Charhouse" in LaGrange. I threw a party-for myself-there and it was a HIT. Everyone loved it. Steak/chops/roasts, were done to perfection with left-overs. Portions are huge. I'm a fan of the Pepper steak.
