Ok, has anyone else had the same experience? I can honestly say, I have never been treated so rudely or unprofessionally before. The lady claimed to be the owner...I am just wondering if this is typical or she was having an extremely off day. Have only been in that shop once before and a man waited on me. Absolutely AWFUL! Wound up walking out and going to the UPS store on Roosevelt.

Sorry to hear that - I have never had a bad experience like that there. In fact, Mark the owner has always been agreeable, even when I have gone in there solely to ask for money to support local fundraisers. Smile

I have given Mail N Stuff a TON of business over the years, for my books (there's a lot of mailing to reviewers, contest winners, press, that a publisher doesn't always handle). And they've been so supportive, stacking postcards of the books right by the cash register, when the books were first out.

So I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the owners and the staff. I'll always give them my mailing business.

You really must have caught someone on a very, very off day.

Hmmm. Is Mark the tall man? Well, he witnessed the incident and when she (the rude lady) walked away I asked if she was the owner and the man replied, "yes".

It was soooooo obvious that she was irritated that I said, it seems like you are frustrated, I can take it elsewhere and she yelled "spare me" another customer was standing at the counter.. I was shocked!

wow, really all I can say is wow.
I have had great service with the man who is always there, very helpful. But, the woman, not that good but not enough to stop going, and believe me I would never return. Close to 3 years of not spending a dime in the FLour Barrel Smile

US4~ Have you considered that maybe you were having an off day? Being someone who worked in a Glen Ellyn store for over ten years, I would get many customers who were not having a good day and would either have a bad attitude or leave the store with a false interpretation of the expereince because of THEIR attitude, not mine. When you help hundreds of people a day, it is not ALWAYS possible to be 'perfect' or be able to smile at someone else's negative attitude.
Rather than bashing someone over the internet, did you ever consider acting as a reasonable, down to eath human being, and maybe doing a random act of kindness? What is a random act of kindess, you might ask? Maybe going back to the store, and saying, "I'm sorry if I was an impatient customer" or, "You know, my attention was diverted because I had other things on my mind at the time you wre serving me" or, maybe, bringing someone a cup of coffee rather than making a federal case and trying to tarnish some one's good charachter on a message board.
A lot of poeple do not know or care what it means to have class, and to be of good character. And, it seems to me, that you fit the discription of an angry person who has nothing better to do than make some one else look bad.
I have been a Mail N' Stuff customer for over ten years. The service is good, and I have seen some of the people they have had to deal with that are not reasonable customers (it always happens in retail), and sometimes, my own expereince included, I would rather say to a customer, "take your business elsewhere" than have to tolerate unacceptable or rude behavior.
To me, it does not matter if the person you are talking about or the business you are talking about, was having an "off" day because you are far more OFF, for writing what you have.

Wow, maybe this should apply to you as well.
Word of mouth is the biggest form of marketing.
Isn't everyone allowed an opinion?

That poor angry-for-a-day gal at the pack n' mail must have been relieved to see this thread slowly descend to the basement over the last few days...only to have that green tea marketing meany come back and remind everyone of what happened. Way to go, Teabag lady. Eek
