I do not live in Illinois, but have visited the Glen Ellyn area a couple times, and my mother grew up in Glen Ellyn. We are hoping to have a get together/reunion with some family to take place in the Glen Ellyn area in October. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good restaurant or hotel or something that could accommodate maybe 40 people (that number is still up in the air). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, kate

I've held some dinners, and been to group functions of 50 or so at Shannon's Irish Pub. Nice back area you can reserve, nice menu for all ages.

Shannon's Irish Pub. 428 N. Main St. Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. 630-790-9080

The Morton Arboretum has some great spaces that can be rented with fantastic views of the Arboretum:

Good luck with your reunion!

I concur. Great place, great choice. In fact, I don't know if it gets any better.

Another good place is Oak Meadows Golf Course in Addison. It is run by the Forest Preserve District:

i think you can have booze at the boat house, but you have to get a waiver/insurance of some kind through the park district (extra fee or something)

We've been happy with the Raintree clubhouse. Have had a couple of functions there, including a large 50th birthday party. Sorry, don't have any contact information readily available.

You can, I think you pay a $200 fee.

It all may depend on the type of event...the arboretum and Danada House do awesome jobs, and the price reflects the quality. Arrowhead Clubhouse is also in this category. The Boat House can be fun, too, but the waiver, rental and catering fees add up. And the hours are sometimes limited.

For totally casual, in extremely plain and bit worn atmospheres, the Links Clubhouse and the Cantigny Clubhouse offer decent food at competitive prices in really nice settings. Both places are really accomodating. Good luck!

4MP and I agree again. I'm amazed at what a nice facility Arrowhead built.

Here's their homepage for general info...
