Dear Soukups,

Friday is February 1.

Please take you freakin' Christmas decorations down. It's ridiculous. Let's put Santa away. You have two teenagers working there that stand around for hours at a time. I'm guessing they have time to take the decorations down from the windows.

Lady across the street, this means you too. You're nice, but take the Xmas tree down.

Thanks!!!!

Dear Soukups, you are not the only offenders, there are many homeowners that might still be waiting for santa to come. Guess what, if he hasn't come yet, you might have been bad......

Take down the lights, especially on Park...

At least Glendale Heights puts on their Village Marquee: Decorations need to down by such and such date...so on and so forth... They may even have an ordinance specifying a date. We (Glen Ellyn) need to probably broadcast that too!

Maybe they're selling the stuff... I went by one store the other day and it still had full blown christmas painting on the windows. ie. cartoons and snow scenes regarding christmas, not 'winter scenes fit for Jan/Feb'. Where was that? Was that in Glen Ellyn or someplace else? It will come to me and I'll have answer too.

I held my tongue with regard to the Xmas decorations at Soukup's. I thought I saw them Monday night after my visit to Tap House...but I was distracted by a vodka-soaked crotch (my own). Glad to know that I wasn't seeing things.

McGowan's would still like you to place your holiday tray orders early, also. Perhaps that is for President's Day.

Man -that's pretty funny. Maybe they can cross out holiday and put Super Bowl.

Personally, I enjoy seeing the white lights on trees well into winter. Most downtowns keep their lights turned on well after Christmas (Chicago/Glen Ellyn included). Festive in a winter-way during these longer nights.

I agree, Santas, indoor Christmas trees/Hanukkah bushes, and colored lights should be long gone.

I know Soukups has had leftover Christmas decorations on sale and so prominently displayed just inside the front door, but the window decorations really are another matter altogether. When Christmas decorations start going up before Halloween (and if you are guilty of that, shame on you!), still seeing them nearly 4 months later is simply dispiriting. How about those brown wreaths on houses sporting their red bows with the tulips in May? Come on people, don't put stuff up if you aren't going to be able to take it down! <end rant>

Ooops, add brown wreaths with red bows to my list! I still stand by my white lights theory of adding winter cheer to ugly, gray nights.

Absolutely the best use of the word "dispiriting" ever used on this BB. Perhaps the only time it has shown its head. Thank you, CAGEYM.

If you don't like them then stay over on the south side where you belong. Although you are welcome to the north side for the sole purpose of taking mine down. It's too damn cold for my delicate fingers to do right now. BTW, wanna be on the plan commission? You apparently have ALL the qualifications necessary. Just don't mention that you know me.

There is a house on Hill that wins the old decoration prize...in addition to their browning wreaths and garland, they still have a corn stalk thing leaning up next to their front door. I'm assuming their pumpkins would still be out too if they hadn't rotted out!

Come on, Ruydah, you know I meant south of Roosevelt, right? I loved where I lived....just hated the street.
