Noticed they seem to be having some kind of 40% off everything sale, which is odd for a grocery store. Are they closing?

I am thinking that Valli Produce - in the old Omni at North Ave and Bloomingdale Rd - put the stake through Springbrook's heart. I saw those signs too.

Frankly, I LOVE Valli Produce and actually enjoy shopping there.

By the way: Clamato had a Nostradomus-like premonition about Springbrook, way back last summer.

The owner of our local Springbrooks were tying to find a buyer to take over. (I asked a salesperson when I was shopping there) I love Springbrook. It always had the best selection of INTERNATIONAL fresh produce, lots of unique items, naturally from their original locations-not just modified imitations.

A little more research showed that they are also being sued by one of their produce suppliers for almost $250,000 (along with a couple other places).

I live on the wrong side of Roosevelt, so my shopping is almost all at the Jewels, Trader Joe, or Whole Food. But the few times I was in Springbrook, they never had everything I was looking for. For example, lots of produce, but no tomato soup.
