I appreciate everyone's comments and questions. We will be offering clinics, fun runs from the store and many other events, some sponsored by the vendors, that will help to keep and grow interest in our running community. Run Today will offer many products, including supplements and New Balance 1220s.
Years ago, I used to buy running shoes over the internet. Personally, while I thought that I was getting a good deal, some of the shoes didn't have the right feel. I was baffled why the same shoes that I have previuosly worn out, did not give me the feel that the others did. Unfortunately, when you buy runniong shoes over the internet, you don't know how long they have been sitting around, possibly in a wearhouse, slowly breaking down. I just, about two months ago, finaaly found a pair of New Balance 1223s. Since the new version had come out and they didn't have the same feel, I purchased without trying them on and taking a short run. My mistake. They are now casual shoes that will eventually turn into the yard shoes. My point here is that when you purchase locally and from a live specialty shoe store, these type of situations can be avoided or reconciled. I like supporting the local merchant, which supports the community. I also like the fact that there is the ability to share running stories and garner information about any running issues that might be a potential or a current problem. It is almost like having a running library or support group that is local. Thanks, Paul O'Neill Paul D. O'Neill |

I'm supremely excited about this new opportunity for GE to have a running show store. Actually, if Pat hadn't gone out of business, I might have started one myself!
Hopefully there will be some shelf-space dedicated to trail running which includes products like Injingi socks, INOV-8 and La Sportiva shoes along with Moeben Sleeves, with Vespa and Roc-tane supplements. The sport of casual running ebbs and wanes somewhat predictably so hopefully you guys can also tap into what's "hot" now by catering to the Ultra community (us freaks who run 50+ mile races) as well. Some of the most successful and attractive running product stores are the Luke's Locker stores and Rogue Valley Runners, so hopefully you guys can look to those models to build a successful and lasting store in GE. Good luck! I will be in there A LOT!! |

Hyoog, who are you? I am looking for people who might want to run a little longer than normal, just curious.

Maybe you need 50 different partners who can each run 1 mile with you.

Oh hey, I missed my cue for a follow-up here! AJM, nice write-up in Competitor on you! I'll probably do Fall50 maybe next year - depends on whether a friend of mine wants me to do the TransRockies Run with him in August.
