They had a warm welcome from the Wheaton Bandit dude the month they opened. And, IIRC, he made a return withdrawal later in the year.

Is the bank on the SE corner of Main and Roos still open? If not...that would be two that have fled. The building needs to be leveled.

Am I mistaken in noticing that the often-robbed GE Bank & Trust moved into the grandiose Hinsbrook Bank spot on the NW corner of Main and Roos? Or am I wrong?

HI, Fish!!!

Poor guy just can't get anything right lately. He's like the new GE Fan of the GEBB.

I think the EDC is funded by the Village of Glen Ellyn and retail/hotel tax revenue.

Does anyone know what percentage of the sales/hotel tax they receive?

Is the EDC a private entity? I find that hard to believe given how the organization is funded. Anybody know...that is willing to tell...how it is set up? Very difficult to find info on the WWW.

The EDC is an independent not-for-profit corporation. It was created a dozen years or so ago by the Chamber of Commerce and the Village government, each of which appoints four board members who serve staggered four year terms.

The Village contributes less than $50,000 to the EDC's operating budget each year (roughly 1/5, as I recall). The lion's share comes from a tax on business property owners (i.e., landlords) throughout G.E.'s business districts -- Downtown, Roosevelt Road and Five Corners.
