It really is hilarious... only the redneck rightwing pundits can take one of the most popular given names in the world and turn it into 1) a perceived insult and 2) a fear tactic. Only these bumpkins in the Nascar Nation could be spoonfed this propaganda and fall for something so inane. |

I found this article to be very interesting and explains a lot about the problems we face today. I was going to summarize it but I think it is better read in its entirety. Changes started back in the 1950's. Thorazine, States responsibilities, Federal programs, and civil liberty advocates all play an important roll. I wish there was a simple solution. You can't MAKE someone undergo treatment anymore. Good or bad, I'm not sure. Our towns across the country are definitely suffering but so are the uncared for. Maybe the coffee with the police and the PADS director meeting will find a middle ground we can all live with. The State and Federal governments need to reevaluate mental health care. If you don't have your mental health than what good is a healthy heart?

That is his name. Isn't it? So all of that nonsense is your perception. Just doesn't sound so European to me and I like European names except Adolf. Adolf was once a very very popular name in Germany, but I just don't like that name. I am neither foe nor friend to my brothers, but such as each of them shall deserve of me. Ayn Rand Anthem |

The only fear tactic is by another one of your left-wing knuckle heads. . . Who's gonna answer your phone at 3:00a.m.???Hmmmmm?
Ring . . . .Ring. . . . Ring. . . Bill? Bill is that you? You better not be calling from an interns phone Bill! Stay away from Chelsea's friends too! Your old enough to be their father! How did you get this number anyway Bill? I am neither foe nor friend to my brothers, but such as each of them shall deserve of me. Ayn Rand Anthem |

I wasn't really referring to your reference. I realize this was the name his father gave him at his birth. I'm referring to the pundits that intentionally play this up as a fear tactic because the only legs they have to stand on is trying to scare the bumpkins away from voting for the "black guy". They tried to do the same thing to McCain when they repeatedly called him a traitor and a liberal and played up the fact that the guy is so old (diapers much?) he can't possibly be a viable candidate (until he was a viable candidate). |

Shorething, That's a good article and hits at the key issues in regard to mental illness and the lack of understanding and treatment options. The question is, what will we do about it? If we could develop a system of treatment that involves kindness and compassion, we'd likely have less unemployment because this is a group of people not getting anywhere near adequate services. Yes, it would cost money and funding probably should come partly from the Federal government and partly from the State government. I am not an expert so I can't tell anyone exactly how it should work but I do think something must be done. This is one of those cases where a well-constructed plan with good accountability might best be handled by a government agency - instead of piecemealing things together all over the place causing some communities to deal with disproportionately large numbers of people who need more help than we can give....
And Barack Hussein Obama is still the best person for the job, IMO. "The most valuable things in life are not measured in monetary terms. The really important things are not houses and lands, stocks and bonds, automobiles and real state, but friendships, trust, confidence, empathy, mercy, love and faith. " -Bertrand Russell V. Delong |

A more accurate way of saying this would be: "Yes, it would cost money and funding probably should come partly form the wealthy working class Americans and partly form the wealthy working citizens of Illinois" Redistribute wealth from those who earn it in favor of those who do not. Yes you are correct. Barack Hussein Obama would be the best person for this job. I am neither foe nor friend to my brothers, but such as each of them shall deserve of me. Ayn Rand Anthem |

We could send the homeless and mentally ill to a farm. Yeah that's it. A nice farm. In Wisconsin. Or maybe just put them on a train. To a destination. Make them work. Work sets you free you know. Oh, that's right. You don't like the name Adolf. Ronald M. Kas |

Ummmm, last time I checked, the middle class was paying a few taxes too. I wouldn't suggest any kind of program if I weren't willing to pay my fair share...Belive me, in our house, we're paying our fair share. And, please tell me your suggestion to actually solve this problem instead of just mocking it. "The most valuable things in life are not measured in monetary terms. The really important things are not houses and lands, stocks and bonds, automobiles and real state, but friendships, trust, confidence, empathy, mercy, love and faith. " -Bertrand Russell V. Delong |

America, based on Judeo-Christian principles, as I've heard again and again might look to this Christian principle first "suggested" by a man of the Judeo tradition:
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' From Matthew 25:35-40, don't just believe me, look it up. |

I'm likely agnostic although I sometimes seek the guidance of a higher power...what that power is confounds me though.
As such, the aforementioned verse does little sway my position on these chronic "disadvantaged." We can't constantly be asked to contribute...it's getting exhausting. "Often Wrong, Never in Doubt" |

This is starting to sound like Pulp Fiction. I Believe! I Believe! However this is a more realistic view. “Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime” Also if Obama's Pastor can get his chuch to cough up a million dollar retirement home, maybe they can employ a few of our bums to keep the place tidy? The mentally ill. . .NO. The addicts and criminals?. . .Hmmmmm? Train? Hmmmmm You may be onto something here! I think you could just drag a carton of cigarettes with a string, lead them anywhere you wished them to go. Work? Now theres a novel idea! Pride, Productivity and Purpose? How dare you even suggest that! Dependency and Entitlement is a way of life! That is right, I don't like the name Adolf. I also don't like Akmed, Mohamed or Abdul Jawwad either.
