Starbucks, frankly, has turned into a corner liquor store for me: I avoid it.

I get the same vibe I get at those little liquor stores. Like: let's hope I can just pay for this and get the hell out before something bad happens.

I'm not kidding.

Whoops. Hijacked. Sorry.

Agreed. I do not sit in SBUX any longer. Get my Joe and go.

From a cool standpoint, Caribou is a better hangout.

Great! Now we have dirty old men at Caribou. . . . . Run Ladies!!!!! Oh yea Clam. . .You only get the 10cents if you can answer the question correctly Big Grin

Get your little Caribou Coffee talk off of my Clean Coffee thread!!

Buggy: Clam is giving you a hard time about your spelling errors there, in case no one knows WTF he's talking about. Also, I like your daughter's comment, too. So innocent and honest. Smile

It really cheapens the joke when they have to be explained.

Clean Coffee...never been.

No, when comments aren't funny, they aren't jokes. Just words.

I stopped by CC&S this morning. Because it's Saturday and I always get myself a special coffee treat on Saturday, I purchased a large fat-free mocha with whipped cream. It was delicious - very smooth and sweet (I usually add a sweet & low to my Starbucks mocha). It came with 2 shots - Starbucks puts 2 shots in large espresso drinks; Caribou puts 3.

The person working there was very nice. The service was definitely slower than Starbucks and Caribou, but that was mostly because the same person was working the register as was making the drinks.

There was one family seating in the shop - a mom and two children; looked to me like a 1st grade girl and a preschool boy.

They had three coffees in carafes waiting to be served; a dark roast, a medium roast and a decaf; and lots (at least 16) of tea offerings.

The snacks were all very healthy - organic, gluten free, etc - much better choices for breakfast than you regular Starbucks fare. Prices were comparable: $1.50 for a muffin.

My receipt says: "Present this receipt for 50 cents off on your next visit"

I also picked up their specials card. They are:

Monday:
Commuter Day: 50 cents off any purchase (show train pass)

Tuesday:
Student Special: $1 off any smoothie (show student ID)

Wednesday:
Half Way There: Buy any 2 beverages, get the 2nd for 1/2 price (2nd beverage must be of equal or greater value)

Thursday:
Health Club Day: $1 off any large smoothie (Show Health Club Card)

Friday:
Flavor Day: Get 1 additional flavor or fruit shor free

Saturday:
Coffee Special: 50 cents off any coffee purchase (8:00 - 10:00 a.m.)

Always 10% off with train pass or Student ID; one discount or special per order.

They also had a coffee club punch card; probably buy 10 or 12 coffees, get one free.

If I got on the train at GE, I would stop there in the a.m. in lieu of Starbucks. But, I get on in Lombard, so I'll just stop there on Saturdays.

Tell me you are joking! Please! Einstein's has become a holding tank, kind a like a bullpen for bums. I've given up on Einstein's, won't go there anymore. I now make the trek all the way to Panera and on occassion Honey.

I take the AM train and they are never open. I'd stop in if they were.

Is that coffee/snack counter still open in the station in the morning? I thought I had heard it was closed.
