Well at English Pub's behest we went to Firkin's tonight to help them with the training of their staff. I'll keep my review short and sweet-we found the overall experience to be excellent! The atmosphere is very relaxed and open. There aren't tables one on top of each other so the feeling is one of space. Sports fans there are TV's everywhere, big thumbs up there. I had the hot wings which I thought are better than the Village Tap or Champp's. The wife had a burger which was quite tasty. The "batter" type fries were the Achilles heal,reminding me somewhat of Burger Kings. Not that they were bad, I just prefer fresh cut (Jack Straws) or waffle (Champp's). We just had a few beers, but the martini menu looks great-I'll be exploring that this weekend. The chocolate fudge cake is a delicious, you've got to try it!

We really enjoyed Firkins and will be putting this on our short list of restaurants we will frequent. BTW-Having a non-smoking establishment is a big plus in my book, kudo's to EP and his team for taking a risky stand on this. Now that Chicago is going to non-smoking, maybe Glen Ellyn should explore this.

Looks like the weather may put a damper on Wednesday's opening. They're predicting 3-5 inches of snow.

I'm guessing the fries are "beer battered"...

3-5 inches of snow? That's the perfect time for a place like that.

fish could use his new snow blower thrower wovel to create a path to firkins for everyone.

The fries that were sent to us yesterday were the wrong spec. We're in the process of changing them.

Sadly, it appears as though the new "classic" flavors are Godiva Chocolate and Framboise. Gin and Vodka are now only found in Man-tinis.

What say you and I head over to Yorktown for the 9:00 showing of "Brokeback Mountain" and then pop over to Firkin's for some man-tinis?

Hey Steve,

Yossarian the girlie man here. Driving by this morning, I noticed the lights on in what I think used to be the apartments located over F &F. I thought I saw what appeared to be a Golden Tee game, was I correct? Is the upstairs area going to be a game room area or remain apartments?

BTW-Looks like we'll be in either Friday or Saturday night to try some martini's. If Clamato is there, don't out me. He and his gang of man-tini drinking tuff's might rough me up for drinking flavored martini's.

Like we won't notice you on our own? My powers of observation are pretty keen.
