It was cancelled last night due to weather, but it looks like the sky is clearing.

I saw where B&W is setting up just outside their own place of business-smart move, makes the supply chain easier and she probably didn't have to pay the $500 fee.

I would ask that if you go, support the local business kiosks. I appreciate that they are making an effort to bring some credibility to the name of the event. Besides who knows how old the grease is used to make those carnie funnel cakes?

Placing booths on both Duane and Main streets as in past years blocking traffic on two downtown streets - not smart.

Keeping Duane open and placing all the booths on Main from Duane to Hillside this year, and in the process giving the illusion of a larger event - very smart.

I highly recommend Chixs and Salsa, I love that place near Dominicks and was pleased they had a booth at the Taste. Also the booth with the corn on the cob is owned by a GE resident.

Ate some corn on the cob today. It's a must every year. My son had the shaved ice (fancy name for a snowcone) and some Barone's pizza. I opted for a sandwich at Bells and Whistles, which seemed the healthier option - and it was tasty too!

Just a beautiful day for the Taste and I agree that keeping everyhing between Hillside and Duane without blocking Duane was a good improvement. It was also nice to see more booths that were actually Glen Ellyn establishments.

All in all, nicely done!!

Since when did corn on the cob become a must, Amy? You do realize that it is really, really easily made at home...don't you? Some might say it is the simplest thing in the world to prepare. Really simple.

I never put that much butter on it at home...having it served that way at the Taste gives me an excuse (once a year) to eat that much butter! Big Grin Therefore, it's a must!

Amy and Clam, since I grew up in the part of the state where every meal had to contain at least a stick of butter, my corn was always loaded with butter! (More than anyone could ever imagine.) However, one day I was served corn-on-the-cob with only salt, pepper, and lime juice. Much to my surprise, it was yummy!!!! I have since only eaten corn with lime juice. Try it, as it is amazing. Save the calorie, cholesterol laden stuff for things like homemade bread, biscuits, and baked potatoes.

Roast corn over direct fire basting with a mixture of butter, lime juice and cayenne pepper. Now that is worth buying...or making yourself.

I will have to give the lime a try.

Another option to save calories, but still have the butter taste is spray "butter". Also makes it very easy to cover all the corn.

Yum. That does sound good. I'll try it.

I also LOVE green beans steamed with some olive oil spritzed on them while they are still hot, then right before eating, squeeze on some fresh lemon. Absolutely DEEE-Li-SHUS! Smile
