4MP. Salbute...ugh. The food may have been fine, but I could never get over the fact of paying $15 to drink a margarita in a room the size of a large closet.

Well done by The Glancer on your response. Forget the circumstances or who was at fault the timely, eloquent mea culpa with a promise to fix it
is exactly the attitude a small business owner should have in order to succeed. Thanks for the explanation, Lindy.

I agree. Who started this whole thing, anyway?

Agreed. After going outside and playing in the snow with my kids I came back and reread this thread. I don't think I gave Lindy proper "props." Thanks for your prompt response although at least for me, it wasn't necessary... I had already forgotten.

That being said, the idiot of biblical proportions, CITYGIRL, may have given your publication a little buzz....and don't they say that all buzz is good buzz...or something like that.

Guess I'm pathetic, too. Must be something with Acura owners. Wink

Haven't been. I saw it on Check Please and everyone loved it. Scotty, what's your review?

OK, Citygirl is an idiot. I agree on that. I just felt that threatening reactions are pretty extreme for a not-so-extreme action on her party. Stupid, yes. nuf said.

Suzette's - how could I forget it!?! Yes - put that high on the list! Another great place I thought of after posting is Bistro Maisonette in Bloomingdale. Really good and the wait staff was very attentive - ours was from "ze olde country" and very sweet and knowledgeable. I'd definitely recommend it.

Went to Reza's in Oak Brook - yuck. We were VERY disappointed. Pita Paradise is a lot better given the price difference.

By the way, Middlein, the Thai place in Wheaton has a more limited menu but we do find the food quality to be quite good.

Went to Charlie's Ale House recently and had appetizers with beer instead of full dinner. It was really good. I ate the goat cheese with toast points and sauteed green beans. Yum. I like the margaritas, chips and salsa at Cozymel too.

This is getting fun.

I want to love Vittoro's but our meals there were not very great - good but not great. We haven't been back.

I think we should have another list too: moderately priced/family friendly but not a super-chain.

I refuse to allow or take part in sub-lists. The whole idea of another list is preposterous.

List as to whether or not another list is preposterous
1. Yes, absolutely.
2. No, absolutely.
3. Yes, because every restaurant should be family friendly.
4. No, because unless a restaurant has a person in a stuffed outfit, it shouldn't be kid friendly.
5. Yes, Clamato says no so yes it is.
6. No, Clamato says no so no it is.
7. Undecided.

Vie is an outstanding dining experience. We often take clients there as well as a night out for just us. The food is expertly prepared and even though I am a very picky eater, I can always find something I truly love.

Scotty's #1

I'm glad his reviews didn't include the phrase "Me and my family".

I am remiss for not saying earlier that I truly enjoy the Glancer and find it an excellent read. I always stop whatever I am doing when it arrives and read it cover to cover.

I like it, but not as much as that. What if you were doing something important? Something vital to the turnaround of Glen Ellyn's CBD? Like participating in a knitting circle? Perhaps quilting? Would you drop it then, Scotty? I wouldn't. My civic pride would not allow it.

Now, where did I put that moderately-priced fountain catalog?

This kind of thing can jeopardize a small business like The Glancer. While the editor/owner may have made a mistake in believing her "reporter", the good news is that it will most likely never happen again. I feel bad for Lindy.

1. Is there really a CITYGIRL, and did she lie?
2. Didn't they just rehash an old article?
3. Nobody would manufacture such blatant errors.
4. The editor is the lazy one, who if it can be believed, does not even know that these restaurants were closed. My kids know FIGO took over that space. Why would a publisher of a magazine catering to us effete snobs not know that?
5. I can't imagine anyone being threatened over this article, and I don't believe it.
6. Sounds like an "over the top" response by the Glancer publisher to cover her butt, that may or may not be factual.

Sequel is the reinvented Bisto Banlieue. (sp?) It's in the strip mall just north of Yorktown right by the Carson's outlet.

Sequel

Great car from what I've heard....wife just wanted something a little bigger.

How do you like it? What color? Have they "corrected" their MPG "claims"?

I saw what appeared to be the cleaning out of the minivan on Saturday. Figured that was going bye-bye. I'm sorry Buick ran out of fish scales, but I like the color you got just the same.

I like it. They call it "Cocoa". Go with Consumer Reports figures on MPG.
