Sister's name is Nancy. Nicest woman ever. Ever. It's amazing how the winter makes it seem normal that you don't see people for months on end. Now that I think back, I haven't seen her in a couple of years. She's a friend of the lady at the top of my block. She would walk Bandit every day down my block and we'd talk for a while when I saw her. Hope she is OK.

Got approached at lunchtime today by a large african american guy asking for $2.50 for the train, told him "sorry". Is it only $2.50 to get to Chicago (his stated destination)? Chief Norton was in Einsteins, I guess I could have grabbed him, but I figure he's entitled to a hassle free lunch.

I'm ascribing to the "Feral Cat Theory", if you don't give them money, this area will be less attractive to them.

Roberts back, broom and bike ready to go! Saw him trying to cut a deal with Rich from the bike shop.

No. Not enough. But just the thought of anyone other than my kids asking me for TWO DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS makes my skin crawl.

Wait a minute ...
Proud of a kid for making his first communion?
Have things changed so drastically over the past 35 years that there is now a significant dropout percentage in first communion classes?
Or was it touch-and-go for a moment there, where lil' bitterbit was poised between choosing catholic or muslim? Big Grin

Damn Dins! Next time, you may want to look both ways before crossing the street. Smile

I love the first communion day. This is such an important right of passage. My best to Little Middle and Little Bitter. May they both continue to make both families proud. Enjoy your day and the events that follow this important time.

I like this one too. One of the CBD owners told me that they wanted to get one of these things but was waiting for the village to provide a recomendation on style. Can the new village manager pick a style and/or buy some of these?

My snark was somewhat "inspired" by a recent conversation I had with some parents of West seniors, and they were talking about their plans for a big graduation blow-out, who to invite, the problems of potential conflicts.

My response was that I had pretty much assumed my kid would make it through high school, so I wasn't planning on celebrating it as some huge accomplishment. Just to let you know I can be as big a jerk IRL as around these boards! Wink

Tho I can see the reasoning if you are simply seizing upon the occasion as an excuse to host a party.

You and I are on the same page, Dins. I hope my kid is grounded enough to realize that making it through HS in Glen Ellyn is not a superhuman feat for 90% of our kids.

Perhaps the parents are really celebrating the fact that their children will be gone in 2 1/2 months.

I view Graduation parties as celebration of a rite of passage. Graduates are on the precipice of an exciting new stage of their lives and that is to be celebrated. Sure, most kids will make it in our area but it's still a joyful and anxiety-filled time as they step into adulthood.

And parties are fun. Big Grin

What about the week prior or after?

What does this Sunday, early AM, look like for everyone for a trial run of Clams new Stihl BG-85?

Isn't Stihl a swedish company also?
