There is a cool access battle going on in the CBD. The new owner of the property that used to house Creative Travel has roped off the area behind her store thus limiting access to the dumpsters and car traffic behind the Einstein building.
IIRC, she wants to plant a community garden back there. Her property, her right. I also think that she has given all parties lots of time and options to work together in this case. The dope that owns the corner building is apparently not too happy (although I hear he was given ample time to respond to this issue and chose to do nothing until a chain went up blocking access). I do not believe there is an easement involved...but I could be wrong.
Should be interesting to see how quickly our idiots in village hall can get a easement agreement in place with the UPRR in order to get a new curb cut for trucks to head in and out to retrieve dumpsters.
Anybody that has actual facts, feel free to jump in. For some reason I am fascinated by this whole situation.
Okay - just walked by it and saw what you say. It is indeed chained and the garbage and boxes are piling up. I think I saw the owner of the travel place unloading very nice plants (greenery), so I waited until we passed to say something to my husband, as he noticed the dumpster overflowing. How did you hear of this 'battle'?

Why are you placing this issue at the feet of the Village? If you've recited the facts properly, I don't think it's their problem to solve.

I don't know who owns the land subject to the easement, but it doesn't really matter. The guy on the corner should know the width of the easement that allow access to his building. The easement is there, it's just not wide enough for the garbage trucks. Solution? Take the garbage out in slimmer vehicles.
