With Enchantments closing, and assuming the salon would move, we now have two huge retail openings across from each other on Pennsylvania. The storefronts are somewhat retailer-friendly (square footage, ceiling height, etc.) and even have a few parking spaces nearby. Does anyone know of a plan for that area ripe for two new significant complimentary retailers?

A men's and teen's clothing store?
A boutique store (we seem to do well with these: Fushia for women's apparel, The Bike Shop and Running Store for sporting goods...what other niches are out there?)
Other ideas?

Waiting for the downtown study to completed/implemented may be too late for these two large spaces. Just wondering if there is a known plan for them?

I really think a Smith & Hawken store in that building, or in the old antique mall space, would be a great thing to have downtown. I love going to the one in Highland Park, which is in an old building somewhat similar to the antique mall space.

Smith & Hawken is a good idea. Even something like the Wannemakers in DG.

Another good idea (someone had here last year) is Uncle Dans: http://www.udans.com/

Great store. Local as well.

Uncle Dan's is a great store...downtown Highland Park has one of those too <they have everything in that town!!!>.

Anyone also notice that the red house that used to house Amlings is now occupied? I didn't notice what was in there, as I was on the other side of the street, but the sign looked nice/classy.

tiddlywinks & scallawags (sp?) - I saw the sign today - but, wait, maybe not the Amling's red house, but the little one by Mail 'n' Stuff.

Oh, I would love a Smith & Hawken in town. I am always driving to Geneva and frankly, I am just tired.
