What would make a great replacement store in the current Karmis space? Go Downtown! and the EDC would probably welcome this BB's ideas...

Why? It's not the EDC's job as they can't control what goes into the space. At least that's what I've been told.

I'm sure Town Builders has some bang-up ideas...in fact, that space would be the perfect place for a VHS to DVD store.

absolutely nothing. i say scrape the whole structure and start over. what do you want to bet there's still some funky stuff in the basement held over from when the Jewel Tea Co. was in that building. . . maybe a few moldy necco wafers.

I concur with TA...there are definitely buildings downtown that could be taken down and re-built to meet more current retailer needs. The owners of the properties on that side of the street between the post office and Forest should get their head together for a plan.

I think if you walk into Karmis and talk to Chris he will most likely be willing tell you that he hasn't seen his landlord in this millennium. Not what I would call an active owner of in town real estate. That and the fact that I know of at least one business owner who has already approach Janie P. about it . . . does not lead me to think that it is going to come down any time soon. Plus it is in the middle of a very long, drawn out facade replacement.

You're right. Eminent domain. Now all we have to do is figure out where the village will get the money to snatch up these properties. Think, think, think........

A STORE THAT SELLS DIME BAGS???????

I'm all for it but isn't that against the law? Or has there been a change effective January 1?

It has been awhile since I have heard that term!

I am fairly certain that given a cape and a nice tiara, I could save the world.

well for starters we could dismantle the floral clock, then cobble its parts together into a carhop statue that we'd sell to roselle for a few thousand. . . that's a start.

This was in the village board 10/22 agenda:

Motion to approve a Joint Defense Agreement between the Village of Glen Ellyn, Chicago Title Land Trust Company, and V-Land Glen Ellyn Nicoll LLC.
This action approves a defense agreement between the aforementioned parties, which have together been named as defendants in a civil lawsuit filed by Dvorkin Holdings LLC, over property rights related to Pickwick Plaza.

anyone know what the deal is here?

I think it is the perfect site for a luxury townhome/condo development. Maybe a joint Voltaggio/C.George project!
