Yes I would have turned Starbucks away. I would have known the competition would have driven out one or the other. It is also my understanding that some of the landlords did turn them away as they were interested in several of the buildings on main (Main & Penn, Main & Hillside. . They also wanted the space across from the train station (Len Doerings Building) Now the book store) Spice's problems didn't start until Starbucks moved in. . . I'm sure that is one of the reasons Spice was sold. . . .Maybe Lee ( I think that was her name) knew something Jim didn't . . Anyhow, It is what it is a done deal. . I really don't wish to rehash it.
My point is look who was behind the scenes. . . Now you want to bring that back?
I'm sure that guaranteed Starbucks check helped cover the bills on the old Spice location while it sat empty for several years. .
I am neither foe nor friend to my brothers, but such as each of them shall deserve of me.
No. I do not want to bring that back. Formento and Koch may very well be the nicest people in the world, but this town doesn't need "old" blood in integral positions like this. Sorry to say that...sounds awful...but it is true, IMO.

Agreed! Now that were friends and I'm friends with Fan. . . .I think I need to get the two of you to be friends!

Glen Ellyn's Chamber of Commerce Monday announced that Georgia Koch and Mike Formento, a former Glen Ellyn village president, will be the new executive directors. Formento and Koch will work together as co-directors, replacing Kay Kendall, who announced her resignation in October. Kendall's last day at the chamber hasn't been determined. Koch and Formento are longtime Glen Ellyn residents with deep ties to the community. Formento is a DuPage County Forest Preserve District commissioner who previously has served on the DuPage County Board." QUOTE]
I wonder if Formento will now qualify for another pension from the COC. He slipped in under the radar just before the Forest Preserve District split from the county board to qualify for a county board pension. And now he will get a forest preserve pension. Never changed jobs but two pensions, all on us. America what a great country!
