You neglected to mention the 2010 GEPD is over budget by about $600,000.

From the Melissa Creech Blog

"The Board learned at the October 5 meeting that our 2010 budget is projected to be overspent by $600,000. Staff could not fully account for the overspending or explain why this money was spent without Board approval."

So we're 600K over budget and we're going to commit another 150K for the forty or so Paddle Tennis players in our town.

What I like is how the staff can't account for the missing 600K. I believe that several months ago, Billy Dallman commented on how happy he was with the reports he was given by the PD staff.

If the sole bid was 145K why are we being asked to fund 350K. What is the other 200K for.

What a great article, though it does seem to be lacking a little in objectivity. Not that I disagree. I don't think I'll be able to discuss much of anything else in the way of Park District management until the board changes.

It absolutely blows my mind the way things seem to be run as an oligarchy of sorts. This board wants what IT wants, not what the people of GE want....hmmm, sounds a whole lot like most IL politicians....

Confused

quote:
Adams said that the club could secure a license or permit from the village and park district for the consumption or sale of liquor under strictly specified purposes within the agreement. The restrictions would be drinking only during a tournament, between 7-11 p.m. Tuesdays-Thursdays and within a boat or the Maryknoll Center.

Have to wonder about the Numbers . First there is no mention as to why Recreation is over 200K over budget.

A lot of mention of they're having greater than expected revenue. Membership was 70K over expected. But that would mean they would have well over one thousand additional members.

I would have like to have seen how many members they have and how much they got rather than we're doing better than expected. Also nothing about the expense of running ackerman. I'm going to bet that it is more expensive than they budgeted which probably explains the 200K deficit in recreation.

My guess is sandy minogue and billy dallman are one of the few who use holes n knolls.
