Does anyone know if the park district has a formal policy stating if/when the pd will rent its facilities to park district residents when not being used by park district programs? I didn't see anything on their web site.
I believe all the facility rentals are listed in the Park District book. It gives the name and number of the person based on which facility you are interested in. If you don't have it, call the Spring Rec Center.
If a field is not scheduled to be used, or scheduled for maitneance, then any park district resident should be able to use the field, basketball court, etc.
I do not think that it should be rented to any tom dick or harry, but used by residents and their freinds.
This is going to be an issue at the brand new 15 million dollar hoop shack.
Current PD board and executive staff seems to have done a poor job planning for these types of questions when they rushed to spend the money. It should make for an interesting election....
Main Streeter, I wonder who on earth told you that an empty field needed to be rented? Is there some obscure Park District policy that most of us are unaware of?
If what you are saying is correct, than generations of Glen Ellyn's finest youth would be in violation of such policies by daring to organize impromptu pick up games on said fields!
Seriously, if a field is NOT scheduled of course it can be used unless posted otherwide (such as flooding, maintenance or whatever. Why are you implying that it can't?
Why are you making this an issue & why are you making accusations that this is the result of poor planning by the Board & Executive Staff?
Main Streeter, this should make for an interesting response...
Now I know Main Streeter, and except for his inability to spell "maintenance", he is a bright guy. I read his post and I cannot see how camdenmarie came up with the interpretation that he/she posted.
