The following is the response from Glen Ellyn Park District President Sandra Minogue regarding GEL's inquiry about how the GEPD Board solicits public input: "We are very interested in public comments and concerns. We always allow residents to address the board. There is a sign in sheet so we know which topics each resident would like to talk about and when that item comes up on the agenda they have the opportunity to address the board and in many cases have dialogue with commissioners. If during the discussion, there are more questions or thoughts residents usually raise there hand so I know they would like to address the board. They are acknowledged and the discussion goes on. We do not exclude anyone from speaking to the board. Our meetings are not usually as formal as the Village meetings. This is the guide line we try to follow, but many times discussions run much longer than three minutes. Also, in answer to your question on taping the meetings, the Board has voted at this time not to tape the meetings." Full article and policy information is posted here. Also, Village President Mark Pfefferman responded to a similar request which is posted here. | ||
