Went to the meeting. What a load of cr**. That Board President needs to learn how to control his temper! I am more on the Save Ackerman Woods bandwagon that I even was. They say it's a done deal. They say THEY are the Park District. We reminded them that WE'RE ALL the Park District! Sign the petition if you haven't already and read up on their website about the wetland violations that the Park District is now being investigated for (by the County).

Why don't you (i.e., the group) sue? Just curious? My father in law was there - he's already called as he is outraged. I can't think of a good cause of action however.

Oh, it was BAD!! I think there will be lawsuits. One woman handed over a memo from a county topographer (if I remember correctly - it was someone that specializes in stormwater drainage) and the memo stated that the best location for a retention pond is actually north of Emerson but that the Walgreen's spot is a good second option and anything east would likely not do any good. But, it's a done deal. IDIOTS! The woman let them know that she will sue.

Fan, what did your FIL have to say about the meeting? What kills me is that the Park District President says that it's really in the village's hands and that he spoke with Hase and she indicated she is not intersted in re-examining the plan. And, apparently she said the same thing about PD Pres at the last village meeting. Talk about runaround!!

He was just utterly disgusted. I have been keeping my head out of this one so I'm not sure what got him all fired up. I've got a lot of opinions on the was the PD handles their business but I'm going to keep them to myself for once.

I didn't make the meeting, but I did flip through the tv channels in between projects at home and caught the very end of FOX news, stationed outside Spring Avenue, Glen Ellyn covering the meeting. Saw lots of "Save Ackerman Woods" signs. Anyone else catch that? I tried flipping around to find any other news channel, but could not find anything.

Fox News was there and we came home to see the piece you caught. They were the only news station there.

Good find. In an effort to avoid budget over-runs the Village will be replacing the 300+ trees at Ackerman Woods with these. actual size

I forget who is the Board President. But anyway, is anyone really surprised by this. By the attitude of this branch of local government. Does it differ from say D41 or D87 or the village government. Or for that matter any level of government. We're in a war that the majority of the people disapprove of yet we're still there with no end in sight. Once we got conned into voting for the Indoor Soccer Palace which will be the third in like a five mile radius. The destruction of Ackerman woods was in the cards. They the PD board did not tell you that because they knew they would lose the ref for that. So a little subterfuge, patent dishonesty and thats how government works.

According the PD Pres, Bill Taylor, the referendum for Ackerman Park was "unrelated" to this current issue. I'm done voting "Yes" for any referendum in this town. The taxing bodies don't listen to us, don't represent us, and take/do whatever they want with little to no regard for our concerns. I'm willing to bet that most of them believe they know better than we do but I've found that simply not to be true. Board members are supposed to represent their constiuents and barring a few, rare exceptions (Pete, Bob, Steve), we are not represented.

I think a lot of young people will. The high school kids that were with me are adamant about saving the natural woods.

Don’t forget your boy pete was one of the unanimous votes by the village board last September to let this project continue on. And his reply to you all from a previous post was “We will all get through this. “ So buck up and take it like a man! You'll enjoy it.
