Is there a new petition to sign? I would be willing to sign it. It seems a shame, the things that have been allowed to happen in Glen Ellyn. The new medical building on Pennsylvania is a blight to the neighborhood, as is the parking lot on the south end of Western Avenue. The clear cutting of the woods on the north end of Western Avenue was also a blow to the beauty of Glen Ellyn. It seems to me that there is a push to destroy this town completely.

If we want to save our town we will have to work collectively. Is there an organization already formed for this purpose?

Here's a website.

Don't know anything about a petition (or what use a petition would serve.)

Petitions don't work anymore and hardly worked in the past. Just send an email to the general email address for the GE Park District which is jsesto@gepark.org and the general email address I use for the GE Village Board is villagepresident@glenellyn.org They get there directly. And then you can copy the local media to at email addresses: editorial@mysuburbanlife.com, thesun@scn1.com, news@dailyherald.com, Lombardian@aol.com, okeefe@cdnet.cod.edu. If you want the email to be considered for a letter to the editor just send it with the subject line Letter to the Editor and to the following email addresses: fencepost@dailyherald.com, letters@tribune.com, editorial@mysuburbanlife.com, thesun@scn1.com It is that simple! Find out more about this important fight to save hundreds of very old trees at saveackermanwoods.com

Village President address corrected to villagepresident@glenellyn.org.

Strange...I have a different one.

BTW, as of now...79 people have signed that petition. I guarantee you that I am the least passionate one of the bunch. That being said, if for some reason that area is spared (more kids playing soccer....you're killing me!), I would expect every single one of the signers to get out there and clean that shithole up. Went through there a week ago...not pretty. Why hasn't this been done in the past if'n they are so passionate about the area? Or is this a case of wanting someone else to do the work?

I believe they have to approve each one via email, so they are being added slowly. This morning at 5 AM, there was only 3 signatures, so they may be blowing through them all morning.

Here are some rumors I have heard about this. RUMORS, so don't quote me:

The Park district owns it, therefore they can't just show up with a dumpster and start cleaning.

People have offered to bring in a dumpster or two and had volunteers ready to go to do the clean up, and rumor has it, the Park district said they would stop them. I heard there was a rather large number of people ready to go through there, but as of now, they cannot.

I have walked through 7 times now, and probably pulled out a garbage bag full of crap that I stuffed into my camera bag, so yes, I thing there would be plenty of people willing to clean it up.

If you do a search for "great garlic mustard pull" in chicago, you will find MANY communities doing this now. Downers grove, Wheaton and Lisle are doing it in forest preserves in their area, why not GE out at Ackerman? Well, because the PD wants it gone in a more permanent way, in the form of a soccer field and goals.

I can see not allowing someone to drop a dumpster off. But I can't imagine that someone would stop a group of people from each dragging a garbage bag full of junk out of there and throwing it in their trunks.

Or better yet. Drop all the bags off near the garbage cans at Ackerman. It's trash from the PD property anyway, right? Drag those old water heaters out there too.

According to the Village Clerk, the Village does not have a public email address, and the address "villagepresident@glenellyn.org" does not work.

Some Village employees do have personal email addresses within the glenellyn.org domain, but the Village does not want any of these published or used by the general public.

The only authorized way to send an online message to the Village and/or its Board of Trustees is via the online form at glenellyn.org/econtact.htm

Messages that have been drafted previously can be copy-and-pasted into the "Message" text entry box.

Vic seems generally pleased to receive correspondence from me.

Don't you find it absurd that you can't send a village official an e-mail? I do.

Didn't I see you dining in the shadows of that thing last night?

Here's a suggestion. Everyone who signed that petition needs to attend the tree cutting ceremony when it begins...holding signs, banging pots, hanging the village president in effigy, etc...the usual stuff. I think I can get one or two TV stations to attend and film...put it on the news. Hafsa will be there...and Brian. May as well go out with a bang. If you are going to make the village look preposterous, make 'em look preposterous to as many as possible.

Oh....then some guy sitting at the window at Figo must be wondering who the **** idiot was that tapped on the window and waved at him. You have a twin...apparently a twin that may even eat carpaccio.

Totally the same haircut, same glasses...I think he even had a replica wife...though she appeared shorter than I recall. Really must have thought that I was a nut job. Probably accurate.
