I didn't get it either. All this fuss...I was looking forward to reading the outdated article!

We haven't received a Glancer in months.

I could be an award winner and not even know it.

If you would send your application, you could be the restaurant critic. Then your reign of terror over the restaurant industry would be complete.

Clam, would you please let us south of the tracks people have at least one thing you northsiders don't have, The Glancer. If it is any consolation, I didn't get the District 41 propoganda paper this time around....

No Glancer for us yet either on the north side. Mrs. '58 is one of the feature stories so you'd think we would have received an advance issue. That, and I want to check out all those good restaurants pronto. Wink

i can honestly say that we've never received the glancer at our place. in fact, i'd never heard of it until this latest flap. but now that i've heard mrs. '58 is featured, i want to see it.

other then being lucky enough to have one dumped on my drive, where can one find this magazine?

I wanted it for my collection of printing faux pas (how the hell is the plural of faux pas written?). Like this one:

I wish it were called the Inverted Lindy. I can't believe I didn't get that stupid Glancer. Frown

Big Grin

Hey, I posted a top 10 list. It's not my fault if only one was in Glen Ellyn.

I think they have some issues with their delivery system. Either that or they know that Glen Ellyn Place overwhelmingly voted no for the last D41 ref. Either way, they don't come down this block. If they really took out a second mortgage to fund that thing as I thought I read, the lack of ad space sold may have that thing going the way of the Chicago Daily News. Too bad. The sports section is better than the other local papers.

When I was a student at Illinois, the members of the basketball band used to talk about Long Beach State's cheer. I guess they heard too much of it when Illinois played them in the opening round of the 1993 NCAA tournament.

It went something like this:

Long Beach State, Long Beach State, Long Beach State

Best sporting event of the year (after one day). AWESOME idea, awesome planning, shocking that it would come out of the NHL. They had a game at Lambeau 2 years ago, Wisconsin played, had 40k+/- there, and it was a blast I hear.

Marriotti stole my idea of a Detroit/Hawks game at Soldier(s) next year.

An Illini vs. Hawaii game would have been pretty good. Both teams could not even come close to the speed their opponents were playing at.

When a southbound cars headlights on Western hit that flag at the right angle, we would get a bright flash of orange in our living room that would blind us for a second. I kinda miss it.

They did this before...a few years back. After this, I am guessing it will be an annual event. I must admit that it looks like a pain in the *** to put together.

Here's to the Swami, Taxpayer. He rightfully predicted the Big Ten's total *** kicking.

Well predicting that the SEC will beat the Big Ten in Football is kind of like
predicting that it will snow in Chicago in January. While not guaranteed it's a pretty safe bet. Remember the race does not always go to the swift , the fight to the strong but thats the way to bet.

This year SI ran a cover story about which conference had the better football programs . The PAC-10 or the SEC. Big Ten was not even considered . As the Midwest continues to lose jobs, people that trend will only get worse.

I already told my kids that when they get out of college they should look elsewhere for jobs etc.

Actually not a grad from either school. I just find it to be a little hypocritical of U of I to be hounding a kid who changed his mind when 7 football recruits signed with the school after verbally committing to other schools. Also, I can't believe a school is blaming one kid for the demise of your program. Ridiculous!
