Anyone have any ideas on where to go locally watch the match tomorrow morning with a 14 year old? Last match his dad took him to Fado and really had a blast.

You might check out Tap House Grill. 4 years ago they were open in the morning for the early games. You can watch them locally on Telemundo and Univision if you don't have ESPN. I believe the US v Algeria game is on Univision at 8:30.

Here is a question for the soccer fans out here.

Why, if we have some of the most world class type athletes, do we play a country like Algeria to a barely 1 goal win after regulation time has expired?

I realize we haven't been playing as long as say England, Germany, etc, but we should be able to destroy teams like Algeria. Do they even have money to train? equipment?

Seriously, this is a question I do not understand.

Every team in the World Cup is effectively an all-star team of professionals. If you look at theAlgeria roster, most of them play on various European teams.

I agree with Fan. You see games where one team totally dominates and they only win by a goal.

Whats odd is how little people in the sport complain about the lack of scoring. In the U.S we're always trying to make sports so its easier to score.

There was an SI article that described soccer as moving a ball down a field past 10 very aggressive opponents, using only your feet, and then shooting it past the one player allowed to use their hands. OF COURSE it is low scoring! And it's amazing to watch. Like hockey, but with teeth.

But the scoring has been going down over the last thirty years. Used to average five goals a game now world cup matches average around two.

I wonder if Americans will ever embrace a game that has this low scoring.

This is the first time I've noticed a lot of interest in the world cup here.

So watching a NBA basketball game is more exciting? Team A scores then team B scores then team A...yawn! All you need to watch is the last 2 minutes which is actually 45 minutes. Don't get me started on baseball...ugh

My gripes about soccer - low scoring, way too many ties and injury time. What kind of a sport operates by a secret clock?

I actually never knew that. I thought it was all a big guessing game.

I just also wanted to say that, despite a general 0% interest in soccer (never even been to a live match which I didn't personally know a player, let alone a live professional match), I am totally on the bandwagon for the World Cup. Worldwide sporting events are just so exciting.

Go USA!

If you go to a Fire game, sit behind the goal. A great experience.
