So I figured since my youngest is a car nut I would look at taking him to the 500 this year. Has anyone ever looked at how much the tickets are??? He will be watching the race on TV!

Is everyone going to root for Graham Rahal assuming he re-qualifies for a 4th time on Saturday?

Always cheer for the a Rahal! Big Grin

And yes, those are some expensive tickets. My in-laws had tickets for years and years. They finally gave them up.

Tickets are about 80.00 per. Good seats between turn 1 and 2, south vista. If you need any perplexed let me know right away.

Of course we are rooting for Graham "put the hammer down" Rahal. If his crew hadn't screwed up, he'd be in the show already I am sure. Stay tuned. Eye opening experience for a 19 year old I can tell you. The last of the gladiators those indy car drivers.

I went racing at a private racing club last week (Autobaun in Joliet). After sitting shotgun with a pretty good driver, I took the car out on my own. I was black flagged 3/4 through the course as I drove the car off the road during an attempted turn.

I'm now a huge racing fan and cannot bestow enough praise on those racers. Holy cow...what a talent.

I can't wait to watch the race....from the comforts of my couch.

Gus,

You can email me from the email in my profile. Although I saw the $80.00/PC on the IRL site and thought that was expensive. I'm sure $80.00 is probably cheap, but so am I!

Every holiday that gifts are involved I ask for racing school. MRS. Perplexed ignores me and gives me socks instead.

Bill Jacobs Mini/BMW invited people who purchased their cars to come and drive our cars on the same racecourse, Fan. My husband took our Mini and had a blast.

Perplexed, if you only go once in your life, it's a really unique experience you will never forget!

Amy,

I went about 18 years ago and it was very cool. Little Perplexed wants to design cars when he grows up, so it's all about him! He knows every high performance car in GE.

You are right Dan, us being F1 fans. Kid is being groomed hopefully for a F1 ride down the road. My company does a personal sponsorship with Graham, look at his helmet on both sides and see our logo.

Anyone want to sponsor and get on board early in his career???? C'mon!!!

You'd like this Fan: prior to the Joliet IRL race, we took people out for rides in a fully race set up Porsche GT at Autobahn. Had 2 people black out. Couldn't take the G's.

The guys I was with had a GT3. I didn't get a chance to ride in it this time but I'll be out there again in the next couple of weeks so I'll have to take a ride/drive it then. My guys had the Volkswagen people over to their house/garage the next day so I drove in a GTI and a TDI...I was eying the GT3 quite enviously though.

What a great place!

Dear Gus - While I have absolutely no idea what that motto means, I do hope that when it is printed up you have an apostrophe before the s in "There's." Smile

Well that explains a lot… Not a bad logo position for those pit shots during races, although I’m sure it’s more about supporting Graham than the advertising. I was in Indy last year for dinner with some customers, while waiting at the bar Bobby sat down next to me. We had a long conversation about Graham, Champ Car/IRL and his team. It was interesting listening to one of the greatest drivers in history explaining why his son is a better driver than him.

BTW, now that I know who you are… My son loves your car!

Thanks, Yoss. I'm ready for the quiz now. Wink

Interesting note in the link that the Beach Boys' song "409" was a reference to engine displacement in cubic inches.

We'll make a motor head out of you yet.

What car did Burt Reynolds drive in "Smokey & The Bandit"?

What was the engine displacement?

How hot was Sally Fields back then? Gggggrrrr.

My best friend in high school had a Trans-Am with t-top - We were painfully full of ourselves - even without cell phones! No idea about displacement (not on imdb), but the Bandit's was black and my friend's car was gold.

Back to the topic - Good luck to Graham - we've been reading about him in the press - isn't he only 19?? Wow!

1977 Trans Am w/the 6.6 litre engine(400)rated at 200 hp

My Acura is a 3.2 litre engine rated at 258 hp. It probably handles better too. Still I love this car.

This is what I had in High School. I will get it back into the rotation if I can ever find a garage to store it in. As of now, it's been sitting in storage for 7 years. I need to get it towed out, repaired and put back into service.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the 396 - instead I dropped in an after market Chevy 350 and stroked it up to 383.
