Cubs are opening at home today, and it is currently 40 degrees and cloudy with a SW breeze. Flurries have been visible throughout the day.
So, my question is how much would it be worth to you to attend the Cubs opener - either how much would you pay for tickets or - in my case - how much would they have to pay you to go. I'll start the bidding at $100 - someone would have to offer me a free ticket and at least $100 to freeze my niblets off at Wrigley this afternoon. Howzabout youse guys? |

I saw three GEiteettes at the train station this morning with their screwdrivers in FIJI water bottles. The prospect of a screwdriver didn't seem to unappealing...the prospect of going to that game made me shiver in horror.

With 80 other chances to go throughout the year...I have never seen the attraction to April games. You'd have to be a moron to go to this game...unless you're a really good friend of mine...then it's pure genius and I am envious. Hope you're having a good time, Ruydah.

I'm with Clam, never understood the appeal of going opening day. My Dad goes every year and freezes. I would only go if I got to sit in one of the heated suites with free munchies.

Opening Day was great...save the outcome. "Boo Hoo...It's too cold to go" "Someone would have to PAY me to go"....spare me, people.
A cold day at the ballpark beats a warm, snuggly day in the office..every..time. Also, temps in the 40's make for icy-cold beer. |

You'll be weeping into your palm-warmed beer come late July when the Cubbies are mathematically eliminated from post-season play.
I'll be there for you. And don't throw away the Red Sox hat that I gave you. |

I wonder if there were the requisite Abercrombie-model-looking girls with vacant expressions, whitened teeth, Cubs baby-tees or tank tops and flip flops on despite the 40-degree weather. Every game I've been to there is full of them. So, now I spend my time at the Cell with hard-drinking mullet-wearing south siders who wear the Sox satin camisole as a "tank top". I fit right in.

You say that like it's a bad thing "Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has not heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains." (Winston Churchill) |

There's a cure for that....it's called an education. I am a dyslexic agnostic insomniac. I lay awake at night wondering if there is a dog. |
