I can't resist posting this because it's just so darn good/clever. A few of the members of York's Golf Team created a video to reflect the success of their pas year but more importantly to express their excitement about the upcoming year. It's here: York HS Golf Video if you want to check it out. Thought some of you would enjoy it but I didn't want to post it on the Glenbard thread since it's not for the Glenbards.

Nice video...with an unfortunate typo at the end. Unless "monicle" is a word...but I think they meant "monocle" If you're going to have a motivating tag line...spell all of the words correctly. Stupid kids...I hate them all. ALL!!! No matter where they are from.

Maybe they can fix it.

Oops. I didn't even catch that! I will have to tell them. But it's still a nice video. Smile

Does this line of thinking help make you a better coach?

Yeah, that typo was my strongest reaction.
Fun video. Neat to see kids put together something creative like that, showing their pride and excitement.
I was being hypercritical about their swings - especially one scene where the kid appears to lunge at the ball, but overall they look pretty good. Lots more good with their swings than bad. And I'm sure my swing was no better when I was in high school and probably is significantly uglier now.
Someone should tell the one kid he's standing on the wrong side of the ball!
Only other "criticism" is that in a 1:39 vid, they really shouldn't need to repeat clips.
The Fan is right - golfers are geeks!

Anyone have the lowdown on why York often seems to be West's biggest rival? Moreso than N, S, or E?

Here's the lowdown.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Rich schools play country club sports quite well.

Yeah, that might explain golf. But I don't have any familiarity with either the West or York golf teams. But in numerous other areas - football, b-ball, track, band, gymnastics - I have heard/seen things to make be believe there was a considerable rivalry between the two schools.

Personally, I would have expected the intra-town rivalry between West and South more natural.

York and West are in the same conference. West and South are not.

I give credit to the golf team for not causing trouble like those rascals on the cross country team.

I was at a graduation party Saturday night in Elmhurst and the brother of one of these guys was in attendance. He was surprising open about what a dope his brother was. He seemed like a very nice kid who understood the difference between right and wrong. Which is good...given that his brother...in all likelihood...accidentally set a house on fire which spread to others. I think the judge would have let them off a little more lightly had they not set a bus on fire at a later date. Ooops.

I wouldn't say York is a rich school - certainly some rich people but there are a lot more families with two working parents or single parents than I think people would know.

Nonetheless, it's good to know that Clam was at a graduation party in Elmhurst while I was not invited to a single one! Wink It's OK really but if the brother you spoke to was the one I think it was, I know him and yes, he is a really grounded young man - very strong sense of right and wrong...I'd love to hear what Dins has heard about it.

I would say this too though. When a school has 200 boys on its Cross Country Team, it's easier to have a kid or two from the team that does something wrong.

OH, and I told the one boy I know in the video that they spelled monocle incorrectly. He said he's talk to his friends to have them fix it.
