Hi All, I'm the granddaughter of the owners of Don and Angies. Boy it's great that you all remember the restaurant. You just may have crossed paths with me at one time or the other. I was there almost every weekend when I was growing up. Who wouldn't when you could get all the pizza you want for free. Angie is alive and well but my Grandpa Don passed away in 1988. God I miss him sometimes. He definitely was a pistel. By the way Grandma makes us pizza every Christmas eve. I'm still searching for a pizza as good as hers. You may remember Jimmy the pizza maker but the recipe was all grandmas. Well keep the memories coming. Rosy B

I like your Grandma, that's my kind of Christmas eve. "Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has not heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains." (Winston Churchill) |

I remember that when we first moved in to Glen Ellyn in 1970, that Don & Angies had the best pizza...brings back great memories.

Care to post the recipe? Every pizza joint in town (except Barone's) might be able to use it. |

Hey, JR I wish I could post the recipe but I can't Grandma won't even let me know how to make the dough. I guess she'll will it to me. What I can tell you is ingrediants make the pizza. For example, Contidina sauce, oregano,Falbo mozzerella cheese sliced thin, fresh hot italian sausage (scalla), fresh veggies. Basicly, everything from scratch. Alot of it was technique also. Hope this helps. Rosy B

that's my hometown! We may know each other. I went to Reskin and Craft. Besides the National Food and Eurlich's Drug store there wasn't anything in GH at that time. If you needed anything you had to venture into GE downtown. (Those Carol Streamers had the same issue, but they went south to downtown Wheaton) We bought our shoes here, went to the GE Clnic, eye doc by the Glen and of course church. Glen Ellyn was the closest shopping until Oak Brook then Yorktown were built. gosh I'm feeling old. |

Hey Buggie24 I too went to Reskin for kindergarten, then went to St Matthews. By the way I lived on Charles Dr. My mom worked at the Drug store for a while usually in the afternoon into early evening. We used to buy groceries at the National. I always got a treat from there. |

Didn't Geiches Shoes have a little merry-go-round? loved that.
Mark Ave here. Are you still in GH? After we sold my Dad's house we went back with my kids. Sure has changed. We had tons of kids in the neighborhood, all stay-at-home moms (mainly because families only owned one car!) A Hot Dog Truck in the summer...like an ice cream man, but this came around on summer evenings and had the best hot dogs a tired, sun burned kid could sink her teeth into. |

Buggy24, Yes they did have a merry-go-round. We moved out in 1989. I do remember the hot dog truck. I think it was part of portillos. Remember we had the second one. Now they are in California and Indiana. I went to the one outside of Anneheim Ca. Exactly the same. Lucky Californians. Anyway you lived on Mark Ave. Did you know the Pieterzacs'. I was friends with their daughter.

Yes that would be Norman Schultkus. I went with my sister to her 25th reunion. We had a great time, ran into alot of people we hung out with to include Norman. Were you there? It was at Indian Lakes. Thirtieth was/is this year my sister hasn't told me if she plans on attending or if it is going to happen. Have a great one.
