I have none. Though I may have cut my hand on a broken glass at Fitzgerald's once. Pretty sure that's where I was.

Anyone else?

The name of the bowling alley slips my mind. Wasn't it Berwyn Lanes? Santa atop of the tower on Harlem ave, right before the 290. Damn that's a good one!

Do you recall Puppy Palace next to theatre across from the Cermak Plaza? How about the Berwyn Theatre on 22nd? Rumor as a kid was that it was infested with rats. How about Seneca? Here's the best one, do you recall that T-Shirt Shop on the corner of 22nd and Oak Park Ave. It was called Cap't Crows. They sold iron on T-shirts and drug paraphernalia.

Went to Morton West my freshman year of high school. I lived in Lyons and transfered busses at White Castle on Harlem and Ogden.

Yes, there was an x-mas tree up there too. I think Santa came 1st and then the tree came later. Not sure about Fitzgerald's. As long as I can remember it was always Fitzgerald's.

Bauer: Paul Bunyon, is that in Cicero or Berwyn? That was right across from Lopez which carried seasonal items like patio furniture in the summer and X-mas trees in the winter. Also is near Mr. Taco.

Mrs A., Where did you end up going soph-senior?

I am pretty sure that Fitzgeralds was an old house before the bar took over. Really run down when they first opened. And small. I used to go there pretty often.

Paul Bunyons was right on the border of Berwyn/Cicero. Maybe on Lombard Ave? It was just down the street from Lopez,(which was down the street from my house}
Also, Lee-N-Eddies catering which was my very first place of employment was right there.

From its website:

FitzGerald's was built in the 1920's and has always been a gathering spot, from the early days as a hunting club and watering hole through its teen years as a jazz club during the 50's and 60's, featuring acts like Bob Scobey, Turk Murphy, Lil Armstrong, and the Original Salty Dogs. The FitzGerald family bought and renovated the building in 1980, and since then its reputation for great music in a casual, comfortable, unpretentious atmosphere has grown steadily. Chicago Magazine calls it "a musical gem," and the club has consistently found itself in the top 5 in Chicago polls of favorite venues.

Through the years we acquired the buildings on either side of us, and in 2001 we took the plunge and began to restore them to their original 1920's glory, with the help of the Berwyn Development Corporation.

i knew they did something there during my time in berwyn. i remember it being a run down old house, then, poof, it's a rickin' hot spot -- in berwyn. berwyn?

you guys remember jerry g. bishop as svengoolie (not son-of svengoolie)? whenever he announced something happening in berwyn there'd be that sound bite of a crowd of people saying "berwyn?" in a quizical tone?

Seneca is/was a restaurant originally located near the corner of 16th and Oak Park Ave until it mysterioulsy caught on fire, then it relocated several blocks east.

I do recall Svengoolie and the throwing of rubber chickens after a bad joke. I thought it was really cool living in Berwyn and the show always referencing to Berwyn. I don't recall Bishop playing the part, but do recall Rich Koz being Svengoolie. These are cool memories.

Bunyon's was on the Cicero side of Lombard. They had the best juice sandwiches.
Just east of there is Henry's hot dogs, another staple of the area. DId anyone frequent The Fire Alarm?

The Fire Alarm did you say? Oh Yeah! Only place I've been to that had metal detectors, aside from the airport and federal building.

I still don't remember watching the original Bishop. I think Koz came into the picture in '79. More than likely I don't recall Bishop because of parental censorship. In '79 I was 10-11, my mom was a bear!

Classmates? Didn't go to school in GE, unless classmates is code for something or other. I've never been in the clink, so I don't think you mean cell mates. You got me stumped.

I do not recall Cee Bees. Mom was loyal to Jewel.
