Either there is an animal relieving itself in my attic or I have sprung several leaks this winter. I have used Tuscher (sp?) in the past and they have always managed to fix the problem, but only after about the second or third time out. Fixing a roof is probably impossible with snow on it, but I need to get someone lined up asap. Candidiate, any suggestions?

Fan,
Your guy came to the house. He appeared to be quite genuine and honest and didn't try and sell me anything. He told me the leaks were due to either ice damming or mositure accumulating, freezing, and thawing in the attic and gave me a few suggestions. Appreciate your help. He told me a lot of folks are having similar problems this year and because it's such an unusual winter, not for me to really worry about it. More than likely, this problem won't repeat itself. He told me in order to be certain, wait until spring and if it still leaks when it rains, then its neither ice damming or mosituire build up, but an actual leak. One way to see if you have moisture build up is on an extremely cold day look, you will actually see ice.
If its ice damming he suggested getting heating wire along the roof line. NO WAY I'm spending that amount coin. Two suggestions he had for moisture build up were to get an exhaust fan installed up there and the most obvious, turn down the humidifier. I had two fans in my old house and they worked great. Kept the house cooler in summer too. Hope this helps and makes sense, I typed it kind of fast. "You shouldn't soil your Sunday pants, like those other foolish ants." |

BB... I'm thinking I may need to have an exhaust fan installed up there. I don't have a humidifier. Thanks!
