Has anyone noticed the serious snow drifts in front of GW??? Doesn't the district or the town of GE have enough $$$$$ to clear the snow in front of GW on Crescent Blvd??

Well, probably not. You mean the snow that's been plowed off of Crescent, and is now covering the parking slots on the south side the street, I'm assuming? I can't really understand your complaint; where else would the snow go?
Just one of those charming quirks of having a school right smack in the middle of town - at least, that's how I view it. |

That's exactly what I'm talking about. It can be plowed parallel to the street and piled up at the ends. I've seen about 3 cars stuck there already trying to drop kids off there or making u-turns.
A little creativity goes a long way. |

I get your drift, Gus.
Parking is at a premium in the downtown area and with incoming freshman orientation nights upon us you would think the effort would be made to have parking accessible. |

I know that it is posted "NO U-Turns" as you head West in front of the school. That is a maneuver you should make at your own risk at that location. They workers were actually out in force in front of the school this morning, and it looked better than most of the roads I was this morning. This message has been edited. Last edited by: GEmom2, |

If anyone missed the 8th grade open house at GW, it was a parking nightmare. The south side of Crescent was snow packed, forcing people to park all the way over to Bitterboy's neighborhood. What were the three buses doing in front of the field house? Was an event scheduled on the same night all the 8th graders were to show up with their parents?

Boys' Basketball - v. Addison Trail was on the calendar.

Nabbing the chronic "U-Turners" must be a major source of revenue for the GEPD! Almost every morning someone gets nabbed in front of GW. Sometimes it seems worth the gamble though, rather than face the choice of either trying to cross the tracks at Park to head south or going behind the school and getting trapped by a bus letting kids out. Regarding the 8th grade parent night...I thought it was a particularly underwhelming evening. |

Gus, where are you?
I gave you such a great pun! |

*Hijack Alert - read at your own peril* -
Regarding parent night and all such orientation/open house/college information nights...one of my biggest pet peeves about these events is that they mainly consist of 1) Passing out handouts and 2) Reading said handouts aloud. Just give me the da** handouts, then, and allow me to make use of my own high school education by reading them myself. Thereby ending all orientation/open house/college information nights - and the parking nightmares involved. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thus endeth the hijacking. |

No, the best part was the heads of departments using a small screen in the corner of the auditorium with an overhead projector. Then apologizing for the screen, because last year it was in the center of the room. OK, here's your first clue. No one could see it last year either.
How about we take the time to prepare a simple powerpoint like the English department did? Then, you can use the BIG screen like all the other people who prepared. And we wonder why the teachers can't prepare new math tests. The head of the department can't even prepare a cogent 10 minute presentation for the captive audience. What would happen if you were actually recruiting talent for the school? The mind boggles. Ronald M. Kas |

First of all buggy24, I LOVE your name for some odd reason. Next, if I WAS village pres, I would do a " walkabout" EVERY day. Being in the manufacturing business, this is what all entrepenuers/plant mgrs do on a daily basis to figure out what is right or wrong within their domain. Not sure if that's what's happening in this town. We deserve better. We ALL bust our *** in the private sector and it's time our friends in the public do the same. |

RONKAS: glad we agree on a few things here and below! I can attest, that B-Boy would have invited them in for a "hot toddy"!!!!!!!!!! Thank God for great neighbors and GE folk! |

I'm willing to bet that the information you couldn't see on that small screen was....wait for it....ALREADY ON THE HANDOUT!!! |

Scribbler: depends on whether or not Ronkas was at Vittorio's prior to the meeting.

Hey Scribbler, have you seen the plowed area in front of the high school on crescent? Not sure why they only did about 1/10th of the area but it looks better and is safer for the kiddies. A little effort and attention to detail goes a long way.
